This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available July 8 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
7-1 Police responded to a fireworks call on 23rd Street/Valley Road. While on 23rd Street, officers observed the sound of fireworks and were approached by a resident in his driveway who stated it was coming from the backyard nearby and that one of the fireworks almost hit his vehicle. Officers then approached the backyard of the residence from a neighboring house’s yard and called out to the individuals. A male came from a shed in the backyard towards officers in an extremely aggressive manner, using obscene language demanding officers to leave his property. Officers, while trying to calm the individual, walked to the front sidewalk of the property. The individual on multiple occasions entered and exited his house. Officers called for additional units to respond to the scene. Once additional units arrived on scene, the man continued to act in an obscene and aggressive manner towards officers and was arrested and cited for disorderly conduct.
7-2 A resident in the 1200 block of Hunters Lake Drive reported to police that an unknown suspect smeared feces on her vehicle sometime between 8:00am on July 1 and 4:15pm July 2. She does not know who is responsible but wishes to pursue charges if the suspect is identified. The estimated cost to clean the vehicle is $20.
7-3 While in the 1400 block of Main Street, the Special Operations Unit initiated a traffic stop on a black Chevy Monte Carlo for an improper turn. The driver was identified and marijuana was located in his driver side door. Upon searching the vehicle, more marijuana and suspected Methamphetamine were also located in the vehicle. The suspect admitted to stuffing the drugs in his driver door to hide it from officers. Charges are pending BCI results.
7-4 At the corner of Chestnut Boulevard and Second Street police observed a 41-year-old Akron man asleep behind the wheel of his rental vehicle. Upon contact, additional indicators of impairment were observed. The driver performed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests and subsequently was arrested. The BMV Form 2255 was read to him, and the chemical breath test indicated a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .103.The driver was booked, charged, and released on bond to a sober party.
7-4 A resident in the 1400 block of Northmoreland reported to police that an unknown person or persons damaged the front windshield of his 2022 MAZDA by way of fireworks. The estimated cost to replace the windshield is $1500. There are no leads or suspects at this time. Cleared without further incident.
7-4 A delivery driver contacted police after dropping off a delivery on Cedar Wood Drive. A resident’s dog, a pitbull mix, broke off of its leash and charged at him. The delivery driver stated that the dog bit him on his hand, causing serious physical injuries to his fingers resulting in stitches. Officers made contact with the dog’s owner at the police station, who was then advised of his citation and advised that he has a mandatory court date.
7-4 Officers stopped a 60-year-old Aurora woman after she hit a curb and displayed multiple marked lanes violations. The driver was arrested for OVI and also found to have an open container of alcohol located in the cup holder of her vehicle. The driver was released on her own recognizance and picked up by her husband.
7-5 Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Jennings Avenue in regard to a noise complaint from an Airbnb. When they arrived, they observed a loud stereo system at the residence from the roadway. Police made contact with the renter, and warned for disorderly conduct and advised of the city ordinances. Cleared without further incident.
7-5 A department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue reported that a 40-year-old Akron man knowingly walked past all points of sale with $62.99 worth of unpaid merchandise. The items were recovered. The suspect was arrested, issued a summons, and released .The suspect was trespassed from the entire chain for one year.
7-7 A restaurant in the 3200 block of Bailey Road contacted police after a customer ate half of his meal and didn’t pay for it. The meal was valued at approximately $38. The manager did not wish to prosecute; however, he did want the customer to be trespassed. The customer was verbally advised of trespass.
