City Council Minutes Report: May 9, 2022

City Council

Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.

The following new ordinances were read and assigned to committees to be discussed next Monday.

A-51: An ordinance authorizing and approving the Final Subdivision Plat for the Plaza at Chapel Hill – Third Replat located on the south side of Howe Avenue between Main Street and Center Drive. Assigned to be discussed by the planning and zoning committee.

A-52: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, without competitive bidding, with Independent Diesel Service for the maintenance and repair of city diesel electric generators. Assigned to the finance committee.

A-53: An ordinance authorizing the mayor as director of public safety to enter into a contract or contracts, without competitive bidding, with Motorola, Inc. for the maintenance of the public safety regional dispatch system equipment. Assigned to the finance committee.

A-54: An ordinance authorizing the director of public Service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the replacement of the roof on Fire Station 5, located at 3497 Wyoga Lake Road. Assigned to the public and industrial improvements committee.

A-55: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the construction of Paddle Park and the expansion of the existing corner plaza located at 2170 Front Street. Assigned to the public and industrial improvements committee.

Next came reports of council standing committees as a result of last week’s committee meetings. All legislation passed 11-0.

Finance Committee:

A-46: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, without competitive bidding, for the purchase of services, materials, supplies, and equipment for use in the electrical division in 2022.

Public and Industrial Improvements Committee:

A-47: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, without competitive bidding, with Ohio Drilling Company Inc. for the inspection, cleaning, and associated repairs for City Well #5, and Well #21 for the water division.

Public Affairs Committee:

A-48: An ordinance to approve current replacement pages to the Cuyahoga Falls Codified Ordinances.

A-49: An ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, Patrol and Community Service Officers bargaining unit, effective July 1, 2021.
