City Council Minutes Report: September 11, 2023

City Council News & Politics

Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.

New Ordinances & Resolutions

B-97: A resolution accepting the amounts and rates of taxation as certified by the Summit County Budget Commission, authorizing the necessary tax levies, certifying such authorization to the county fiscal officer. Assigned to the finance committee.

B-98: An ordinance authorizing the Parks and Recreation Board to enter into a contract or contracts, without competitive bidding, with Ameriseal and Restoration, LLC., for concrete and stone repairs at Brookledge Golf Club Clubhouse. Assigned to the finance committee.

B-99: An ordinance authorizing the Parks and Recreation Board to enter into a contract or contracts, after publicly advertising for bids, for Kennedy Park field renovations. Assigned to the finance committee.

B-100: An ordinance authorizing the Parks and Recreation Board to enter into a contract or contracts with Ohio CAT, according to law, for the purchase of a new Caterpillar compact track loader for use by Park Maintenance. Assigned to the finance committee.

B-101: A resolution accepting the recommendations of the Tax Incentive Review Council and the Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council concerning Enterprise Zone and Community Reinvestment Area Tax Exemption agreements within the City of Cuyahoga Falls. Assigned to the finance committee.

B-102: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, with the Thrasher Group, Inc., for professional engineering services for the improvement of Wyoga Lake Road from Steels Corners Road to Seasons Road. Assigned to the finance committee.

B-103: An ordinance amending the Traffic Control File by providing for the installation of various traffic control devices. Assigned to the public affairs committee .

Finance & Appropriations:

B-91: An ordinance providing for the issuance and sale of notes in the maximum principal amount of $1,255,000, in anticipation of the issuance of bonds, for the purpose of paying the costs of acquiring, constructing, reconstructing, improving, equipping and installing 3,400 lineal feet of sanitary sewer lines, 3,550 feet of water main lines and 8,000 lineal feet of electrical conduit wiring, related storm sewer lines and retention, erosion control and landscaping along Princeton Place Boulevard, Nottingham Trail, Bainbridge trail and Kensington Court. Passed 10-0 with Councilman Balthis abstaining.

B-92: An ordinance providing for the issuance and sale of notes in the maximum principal amount of $700,000, in anticipation of the issuance of bonds, for the purpose of paying the costs of the construction, reconstruction, widening, improving, grading, draining and resurfacing of Wyoga Lake Road between Steels Corners Road and Seasons Road, together with all related and necessary appurtenances thereto. Passed 10-0 with Councilman Balthis abstaining.

B-93: An ordinance providing for the issuance and sale of notes in the maximum principal amount of $350,000, in anticipation of the issuance of bonds, for the purpose of paying the costs of the design and engineering, construction, reconstruction, widening, improving, grading, draining and resurfacing of, and installation of traffic controls along, and the intersections of, State Road, Seasons Road and Wyoga Lake Road, and a traffic study of those roads and related areas, including but not limited to the extension, opening, improving, curbing or changing of the lines and traffic patterns of roads, highways, streets, intersections, bridges (both roadway and pedestrian), sidewalks, bikeways, medians and viaducts, providing signage, lighting systems,signalization, and installation of stormwater and flood remediation facilities, together with all related and necessary appurtenances thereto. Passed 10-0 with Councilman Balthis abstaining.
