City Council Minutes Report: June 1, 2026

City Council News & Politics

Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.

Legislation Scheduled for Discussion

Finance & Appropriations:

A-38: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, with LiveEO, Inc., for the use of satellite imagery to monitor vegetation growth around power lines. This legislation was presented by Jimmy Falou from the electric department. The city is currently using a trial version of this software to identify the height and health of the vegetation growing near the city’s aboveground infrastructure. The software uses satellite imagery taking imaging at different angles and builds a database that can determine the health, height and even type of tree. The electric department can use this data proactively to cut down the number of vegetation related outages. The community of Westerville currently uses LiveEO and has  reported a 40% drop in outages.  Cuyahoga Falls has over 350 miles of electric lines; this software would do the mapping on the 181 miles of aboveground power lines. The contract is for three years and would cost $158k over the life of the contract with the funds coming from electric operations. The committee voted to bring this out for a vote Monday, June 8.

A-39: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the Nutwood Avenue Sanitary Sewer Improvements. This legislation was presented by City Engineer Tony Demasi, The lines for both Nutwood Avenue and Ashland Avenue were originally constructed in 1917 and have been subject to backups and breaks and are in need of replacement. The plans include a complete replacement of the line on Nutwood with an 8” sewer line and the ones on Ashland will be lined. The best and lowest bid came from H.M.Miller from Mogadore and they are currently working on a few projects within the city. Work will begin later this year and be completed in spring of 2027. The cost will be  $639k. The committee voted to bring this out for a vote Monday, June 8.
