This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available April 1 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
3-23 A convenience store in the 1700 block of Fourth Street reported to police that a suspect concealed Snickers and Hershey bars in his shirt and left without paying. The candy bars were valued at $19.78 and the manager did wish to prosecute. Contact was made with the suspect at his residence nearby, where he admitted to the crime. He was issued a summons for theft and given a court date at the Stow Municipal Court and trespassed from the store.
3-24 Residents in the 500 block of Pauline Court contacted police after finding a vehicle broken into via the rear passenger window and the alarm set off with the driver door left open. The victim reported her brother-in-law’s vehicle was also entered. Upon investigation of the first vehicle, it was found that the steering column had been damaged in an attempt to steal the vehicle. The victim stated there were some missing credit cards that were not active, and maybe some other items but was unsure. The second vehicle was not damaged on entry, but the blinker switch was damaged. The brother-in-law stated nothing was taken. Both parties would like to prosecute if found. Victims’ rights given at scene to both parties, cost of damages in unknown at this time.
3-25 A home improvement store in the 100 block of Graham Road reported to police that an unknown person took a 4K digital camera system valued at $389.99 from the store without paying. The suspect exited through the entrance and departed the property in a white SUV. There are leads and prosecution is desired.
3-25 Officers responded to a report of a 31-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman who drove her 2006 Honda onto the railroad tracks at Broad Boulevard. The driver showed signs of impairment and was given the opportunity to submit to field sobriety tests and was arrested for OVI. The driver was transported to CFPD where she refused to submit to a test. The driver was released on a PR bond.
3-25 A shopkeeper in the 2100 block of Front Street reported to police that an unknown female stole a dress and skirt valued at a total of $129.90. Video footage shows the female entering the dressing room with a bag and the items and then exiting without the items being seen. The female did not purchase anything. The shopkeeper declined prosecution; however, she did want the female trespassed. There are potential leads on the suspect, although she has not been identified yet.
3-26 A Clara Street resident contacted police after he found two dogs in the roadway. Using social media leads, the owner, a known neighbor, was identified. The owner stated her gate was left open, causing the dogs to get out. The owner was warned for dogs at large.
3-26 A card store in the 3200 block of Oakwood Drive reports a known customer concealed a 10-pack bundle of Prismatic Evolutions Pokemon Cards inside his pants packet. The individual then walked past the final point of sale without paying. Total amount of $129. The store does wish to pursue charges and a warrant on complaint has been issued.
3-27 A home improvement store in the 300 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that a suspect concealed a grinder wheel, a work shirt and pair of pants under other paid items in his cart and passed the point of sale without paying, resulting in a loss of $174.82. The items were recovered by the store. Loss prevention signed a complaint against the suspect for theft. The suspect was given a summons to the Stow Municipal court.
3-28 The manager for a discount tool store in the 300 block of Howe Avenue reports an unknown white male in his 20’s, with cropped brown hair, stole two Hercules brand tools by walking past the point of sale and out of the store without paying. The total estimated value of the items stolen is $200. Prosecution is desired. There are leads.
3-28 A specialty cookie store in the 700 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that two juvenile employees of the store had an unknown male call the store and identify himself as “Michael” from corporate. The caller instructed them to remove $240 in denominations larger than $5 from the register. He then directed the employees to go to a retail store, load the money onto a gift card, and provide him with the gift card number. At this time, prosecution was declined.
4-1 The City of Cuyahoga Falls Treasurer reports that an unknown person attempted to cash two fraudulent checks for a total $2,990. These checks were never issued by Cuyahoga Falls but had the relevant information that would be on a normal Cuyahoga Falls check. The checks were stopped by Huntington Bank. Cuyahoga Falls is not out of any money but wants to pursue charges. There are no leads or suspects.
