This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available October 16 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

10-6  A patron at a tavern in the 2200 block of Front Street reported to police that an unknown male with long hair punched him on the left side of his face. The victim did not have any visible injuries, but did claim multiple times that it hurts to move his jaw, however he refused medical attention. The victim was intoxicated but stated the assault was unprovoked. The man was unable to give a good description and had trouble understanding officers. He was released to a sober party on scene, and stated he would like to prosecute; there is a lead.

10-6  An Americana Drive resident reported that an unknown suspect(s) stole two of her stuffed dolls and a Fox adult dirt bike helmet from her storage locker within the apartment complex. The woman stated all items were old and she does not know the value. She stated the last time she knew her items in storage to be ok was one year ago. She was unsure if she wanted to prosecute and with no recent timeframe, the case is currently closed.

10-7  Police took a report from a woman in the 1600 block of Akron-Peninsula Road who reported that she left her office on October 5 where she had left bags of clothing and shoes in the bottom floor lobby. The clothing was to be sold at a later date, and she was leaving them to be moved later. Upon returning to the building on October 7, she noticed the belongings gone. Some of the belongings were recovered at a laundromat located in the 1500 block Akron-Peninsula Road. She estimates the loss at around $3,500. The victim said she will prosecute.

10-7  A Cuyahoga Falls man reported to police while driving north on Northampton Road an unknown white male who was in the woods jumped out in front of him and began yelling. The unknown male was described as having “dirty” black hair, a gray zip-up hoodie, and jeans. The witness said the male then stated “This is my neighborhood, this is where I live. If you don’t leave, I’m going to shoot you,” before taking off westbound on foot. Officers were unable to locate the suspect, and the man declined prosecution.

10-7  The manager of a dispensary in the 1600 block of State Road reported to police that an employee at the dispensary stole one Super Lemon Haze THC disposable vape pen valued at $33 during store hours on Wednesday, October 2. The manager does not wish to prosecute and only wished to make a report on the theft.

10-8  Police responded to a complaint of an individual creating a disturbance inside an apartment complex in the 2200 block of High Street. Upon arrival they found a man who appeared under the influence of an unknown substance. He had entered the building and began loudly knocking on doors and asking if the party was there. He stated he was going to beat someone up in 4C. The man was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to detox.

10-9  A resident in the 2600 block of Maplewood Street reported to police a known person broke the glass of a double-hung window near her driveway and fled the area. The damage was estimated at $200. Prosecution is declined.

10-9  Loss prevention from a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue requested police for an in-custody shoplifter. Upon arrival, police met with loss prevention who had stopped the suspect for taking merchandise past the point of sale without paying. Store management showed on video, the suspect placing jewelry in her purse. The total value was $171.96 and all the items were recovered. Store management did sign charges for theft and the suspect was arrested. She was released at the station with a court date through Stow Municipal Court.

10-10  Officers were dispatched to a stopped vehicle with a door open on Garfield Avenue near Northland Street. Upon checking the vehicle, the driver was found to be having physical control of a vehicle while under the influence. The driver was arrested and transported to the police station. After booking and submitting to a breathalyzer the man was issued a bond and a court date for Physical Control, and DUS Child Support. The man was released to a sober driver.

10-10  Police made a traffic stop in the 400 block of Howe Avenue due to several traffic violations. In the course of the stop the suspect was found to have a suspended license and his vehicle was towed. The suspect gave consent to search his person and belongings. In a grocery bag, officers located an unloaded Ruger .380 caliber pistol and several full magazines. During the investigation it was determined the man had prior felony drug convictions. The suspect was arrested and charged with improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle (F4), having weapons under disability (F3), carrying concealed weapons (F4), driving while suspended (M1), cracked windshield (MM), and signal while changing course (MM). The man was later transferred to the custody of Summit County Jail.

10-11  Police responded to a grocery store in the 2600 block of State Road where store management reported that two unknown suspects passed point of sale with approximately $200 worth of alcohol. The two suspects then got into a vehicle where a driver was waiting for them, quickly fled, driving east on Portage Trail. There are leads and suspects and the store will prosecute.

10-11 A Cuyahoga Falls couple reported to police that their credit and debit cards were stolen from a Portage Trail gym. They received notification that the cards were attempted to be used at two different businesses in Fairlawn. The transactions were able to be disputed, and the couple did not incur a financial loss. There are no leads or suspects however they do wish to prosecute.

10-11  Police observed a suspect running from an Enterprise Rental Truck in the parking lot of a Howe Avenue home improvement store. The truck he ran from was the only truck with running lights. The suspect saw police and attempted to flee the scene on foot. Police apprehended and took the man into custody. The suspect admitted to smashing the window on the truck in an attempt to steal money. The owner of the rental signed charges of criminal damage (M2), and attempted theft (M2). The suspect was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (M4) and obstructing official business (M2). He was released on his own recognizance.

10-11  Police made a traffic stop on Route 8 southbound near Howe Avenue traffic stopped a vehicle driven by a 38-year-old Akron man for multiple moving violations. The officer observed indicators of impairment and had the man perform field sobriety tests. The man was subsequently arrested for OVI, booked at CFPD, and submitted a breath sample of above the legal limit. He was released to a sober party on a PR bond.

10-12  Police made a traffic stop on Howe Avenue near East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue. When asked the driver denied the presence of firearms in the vehicle. During an inventory of the vehicle, officers located a loaded Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun concealed under the driver’s side floor mat. A LEADS return showed the firearm was entered and confirmed stolen by the Noble County Sheriff’s Office. The suspect was then found to be previously convicted of several felony offenses of violence. The man was transported to Summit County Jail.

10-13  A man in the 3200 block of Hudson Drive reported to police that an unknown person or persons took a political sign from his yard without consent. The sign was valued at $5. There are no leads or suspects at this time. The victim does wish to prosecute.
