City Council Minutes Report: March 25, 2024

City Council News & Politics

Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.

New Ordinances & Resolutions

A-40: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to purchase certain interests in real property from David B. Sr. and Mary Schrembeck, necessary for the improvement of State Road, Seasons Road, and Wyoga Lake Road. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion Monday April 1..

A-41: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the rehabilitation and remodeling of City Hall bathrooms. Assigned to the public and industrial improvements committee for discussion April 1.

Finance & Appropriations:

A-36: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, without competitive bidding, with The Cope Salt Company for bulk salt used in the water treatment process. Passed 10-0.

Public Affairs:

A-37: A resolution declaring the month of March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in the City of Cuyahoga Falls. Passed 10-0.

A-38: An ordinance amending the Traffic Control File by reducing the speed limit on Bailey Road from Erie to Front Street. Passed 10-0.

Community Development:

A-39: An ordinance approving and authorizing the mayor to execute a Community Development Block Grant Agreement with Polymerics, Inc. for an economic development project. Passed 10-0.

Miscellaneous Business:

Finance Director Bryan Hoffman went over Report 21 (the snapshot of the city finances presented to council during the year). Items worth noting in the report are that attendance to the Natatorium is up 5% and there has been an increase in the self-insurance fund, but it was anticipated.
