This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available June 4 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
5-23 A 22-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman reported to police that she responded to a Facebook ad to rent a home in the city. The victim reports being pressured into sending the posting party a $60 “application fee.” The victim reports after the money was sent the poster requested additional money to tour the property, which she declined and requested her money back. This request was denied. Prosecution is desired. There are leads.
5-24 Police were summoned to a movie theatre in the 2900 block of State Road where an employee had reported a male was threatening people and said he was a gangster. The employee reported that the male allegedly drank an entire bottle of vodka. Officers located the highly intoxicated suspect in the parking lot unable to keep his balance. The suspect was cited for DOC Intox and was taken to detox.
5-24 An employee at a convenience store in the 400 block of Bath Road reported to police that an unknown white male threatened to stab him with a grilling lighter when told the business was closed. The employee stated he was in fear for his safety. The male left in a white Ford F150 prior to police arrival. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle or identify the suspect. Prosecution is desired.
5-26 A Charles Street resident reported to police that while he left his Toro push lawn mower unattended on the devil strip, a known male drove by in a beat-up dark pick-up truck and took the Toro lawn mower without the resident’s consent. Officers were able to find the lawn mower and returned it to the resident who does not wish to pursue prosecution.
5-26 A steel supplier in the 4600 block of State Road reported to police that an unknown person did drop off three kittens that were in a small animal carrier in the parking lot. The kittens were left at 0655 but were not found until 2230. The kittens did not have any food or water and were left exposed to the environment. Management did have video of the vehicle dropping off the kittens.
5-28 The manager of a bar in the 1700 block of state road reported to police that while working an unknown male began banging on the door over and over, took off his shirt and then urinated outside of the door. The male left prior to officer arrival in an unknown direction. They do not wish to prosecute.
5-30 During a traffic stop on State Route 8 near the Broad Boulevard exit for displaying a fictitious license plate. Police identified the driver, and a probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle after a K9 alerted. Police located 4.1g of a white crystalline substance inside a cigarette pack that was sitting in the center console. The substance was field tested and yielded a positive result for methamphetamine. The suspect was processed and transported to the Summit County Jail and the vehicle was towed to B&B towing.
5-31 A grocery store in the 2600 block of State Road reported to police that a female stole $258.94 worth of miscellaneous food and grocery items by using the “scan, pay & go” feature, knowingly not scanning items. Loss prevention stated the woman left the store without paying for the majority of items. The woman was trespassed from the store and released with a summons.
5-31 A grocery store in the 2600 block of State Road reported to police that a male wearing a red sweater stole four (4) bouquets of flowers valued at $87.49, by leaving the store without paying. Loss prevention stated the male returned the flowers when confronted at the exit, but fled the scene when he was notified officers would be responding. Officers were unable to locate the male. There are leads at this time. Prosecution is desired
6-1 Police made a traffic stop on a Chevy Cruze after it was observed running the red light at Sixth Street. The driver was found to be impaired and was arrested for OVI. During an inventory of the vehicle, police found a loaded handgun in the center console of the vehicle. The suspect was transported to the station for booking and submitted to a breath test where he blew a .119 BAC. The suspect was charged with weapons while intoxicated, improper handling, OVI, and a traffic light violation. He was given a signature bond and released to his grandmother.
6-2 Police responded to a call on State Road after it was reported that a 72-year-old man had chased, on foot, a vehicle after he struck the vehicle with his motorized wheelchair. The man allegedly then struck the vehicle several times with a closed fist causing further damage to the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, in an effort to avoid the suspect, backed into a telephone pole support wire. The suspect was charged with crossing roadway outside crosswalk, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief.
6-4 A car dealer in the 2600 block of Front Street reported to police that he got to work and found broken glass where a 2018 Chevy Camaro was parked the night before. It is unknown what time overnight the vehicle was stolen. Management stated it will sign charges and there is a lead. Vehicle was entered into LEADS as stolen.
