Toys for Tickets Program Donates a Happy Holiday for Good Neighbors

News & Politics

Many small programs have begun in Cuyahoga Falls recently, showing that the city is already getting into the holiday spirit. Once such program that is continuing into its eleventh year is the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department’s Toys for Tickets program.

The Toys for Tickets program allows drivers who receive citations for minor traffic offences to donate a new, unwrapped toy to Cuyahoga Falls Good Neighbors in place of paying a citation’s fine. The donations are monitored via the honor system, as donations are not verified after the fact. Officers issue toy waivers when giving verbal warnings for offenses.

“Every year, we are grateful for the giving nature of those who opt to participate in our Toys for Tickets Program in the spirit of delivering holiday joy to so many deserving children in our community,” Cuyahoga Falls Police Chief Jack Davis said.

Mayor Don Walters followed this statement up in a recent press release, stating that Chief Davis and the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department “are true community servants with a strong history of finding innovative ways to assist our local non-profit organizations and this is no exception. The Toys for Tickets program gives motorists an opportunity to make a lasting impact on families in our city in lieu of a traffic warning.”

Cuyahoga Falls police officers will issue toy waivers from November 27th through December 11th. Drivers may bring a new toy for donation to the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department, located at 2310 Second Street, any time before the end of the day, December 11th.
