*Cuyahoga Falls city school returning to remote learning, only weeks after returning to buildings. The Board’s decision came after another surge in COVID cases and Summit County Public Health’s stay-at-home recommendation. Hear the full November 18th school board meeting here.

*Many events have been canceled or changed due to the pandemic, including:

  • The Downtown Christmas Tree lighting ceremony has been made virtual, instead being broadcast on the city’s social media, following a reading of The Polar Express by Mayor Don Walters and Santa.
  • The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad’s “Polar Express” Train Rides have been canceled for the remainder of the season.
  • The ice rink downtown will open Saturday, November 28 through mid-February, with regular cleanings and limited hours dependent on changes in the pandemic.
  • Salvation Army bell ringers will no longer be standing outside grocery stores, but rather will leave unmanned donation tills.
  • A North Pole Express Dropbox is available at the Downtown Pavilion building, allowing children to write Santa (including their return address) and receive a response. Letters must entered by December 16.

*Akron has adopted a rule allowing police to enforce restrictions on large gatherings, including a $250 fine for homeowners with groups of more than 6 people, guests unmasked, or less than 6 feet apart. Mayor Walters has stated he is not planning to enact this legislation in Cuyahoga Falls, however encourages residents to be safe.

*The new marquee is installed at The Works, the forthcoming family entertainment business in the home of the old Falls Theater.

*Artists Sunday, this weekend, encourages the community to shop from local businesses and artists.

*Parking Meters on Parade has begun! Next week the city will photograph entries along Front Street, and the community can vote online for their favorite. We will post the link for voting when it becomes available .
