This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available October 7 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
9-25 Police were called to a fast food restaurant in the 2600 block of State Road where an employee reported an intoxicated male in a white sedan in the drive-thru lane that was circling the building and throwing things at the building and employees. Police located the vehicle and made contact with the driver. The suspect had slow, slurred speech and stated he drank a “fifth.” Based on statements from three witnesses, the slow slurred speech, and the suspect’s statements to drinking he was asked to perform field sobriety tests which he refused. The suspect was arrested for OVI and taken to the station for booking. He was charged with OVI, refusal, and disorderly conduct while intoxicated. He refused to submit to a breath sample and was released to a sober party. Cleared without further incident.
9-28 Police made a traffic stop on Prange Drive on a 34-year-old Akron man driving. He failed to comply with the officer’s legal commands. The driver displayed multiple indicators of impairment and was arrested for OVI. Officers found a loaded handgun (Raven Arms P25) on his person. While conducting an inventory search of the vehicle, officers located open containers (Teremana Blanco and Hennessy), and open marijuana packets (mushroom) in the vehicle.
10-1 Police responded to a home in the 3000 block of State Road where the homeowner reported somebody had broken into the house he recently purchased, occurring at night between September 28 and October 1. He noticed forced entry to his basement door and front door and reported he was missing approximately $100 in pennies and 50 cent pieces, as well as a banjo, valued at $4,500. The victim was not present during the break-ins. He did wish to prosecute. An extra patrol was put in for the residence.
10-1 Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by a 60-year-old Akron man for multiple moving violations. Indicators of impairment were observed as well as an open container of alcohol in suspect’s vehicle. The suspect was placed through standardized field sobriety testing, and was subsequently placed under arrest for OVI. The suspect was transported to CFPD where he was booked and submitted a breath sample of .237BAC. The suspect was issued multiple traffic citations, a summons, and released to a sober party on a personal recognizance bond.
10-1 Police were requested at a thrift store in the 2900 block of State Road where an employee reported a suspect for shoplifting. The suspect did pass the point of sale with $269.97 of merchandise. Police located the suspect on State Road where she matched the description of the person who stole the items from the business. While attempting to stop the suspect, she ignored police lights, sirens, and commands to stop. She was brought back to CFPD where she was booked, charged and given a personal recognizance bond.
10-2 Police responded to a business in the 600 block of Howe Avenue where a store employee reported an unknown male came into the business and stole approximately ten plain white t-shirts valued at $3.29 a piece. The employee advised that the male suspect came into the store, placed these items under his t-shirt and then left the business without rendering payment. The employee advised that he only wished to have the male trespassed from the business and did not wish to prosecute in regard to the theft.
10-2 A Myrtle Avenue resident contacted police to report that an unknown person(s) did enter his residence, which was left unlocked, while he was not home and took $2,000 worth of fishing rods. The victim also advised that they took a black go-kart which was located in the backyard. The victim advised that he moved out of the residence on September 19 and no one has been living there since. The victim will prosecute.
10-2 Police responded to a call in the 1200 block of Buchholzer Boulevard where a store employee reported a male suspect was outside of the business smoking marijuana and yelling at customers, causing inconvenience, annoyance and/or alarm. Officers arrived on scene and located the male suspect inside the business. Upon speaking to the caller, they advised that they did not wish to prosecute and only wanted the male suspect trespassed from the business. The male suspect was then advised of the trespass and was given a courtesy transport to Akron at his request.
