This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available July 29 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
7-16 Police made a traffic stop on the entrance ramp to Route 8 South at Broad Boulevard on a Ford Focus. The driver was found to be driving without a valid license. A probable cause search led to the discovery of a glass pipe containing an unknown liquid substance. The driver was cited for driving without a valid license and possession of drug paraphernalia. The unknown substance was sent to BCI for testing. Charges are pending BCI results.
7-18 Police were called to the 400 block of James Avenue where a resident reported an unknown person stole his son’s Razor Dirt Rocket MX350 toy dirt bike, valued at $300. The victim advised he walked around the neighborhood and located it at a nearby apartment complex under a set of stairs. The ignition wires were cut which rendered it inoperable. At this time there are no known suspects at this time. The victim declined prosecution.
7-18 Police were called to a drugstore in the 600 block of Portage Trail where management told them that an unknown female suspect entered the business on the night of July 17 with an empty baby stroller. The suspect then loaded the stroller with miscellaneous items totaling approximately $488.21 and left the business without payment. Store management stated that the store does wish to prosecute, a request was filled out to obtain video surveillance of the incident.
7-19 In the 300 block of Hillcrest Drive a woman reported an unknown subject entered her unlocked GMC Sierra and took her wallet which contained her driver’s license and several credit and debit cards. The victim stated that she came outside and found that her passenger side door was open on the date of July 18 at 9am. The victim advised that nothing else was taken from the vehicle. The victim wished to have a report on file but did not wish to prosecute.
7-20 A 15th Street resident contacted police after finding an unknown person had gained access to his vehicle between 1am and 11am without consent. The victim states no items were taken from the vehicle; there are no leads or suspects at this time. The victim does wish to pursue charges.
7-20 Police were called to the 2400 block of 13th Street where a resident reports an unknown person gained access to her vehicle without consent and took $40 cash and a children’s bracelet valued at $15. The victim believes it occurred between 10pm and 9am. The vehicle was parked in the driveway and unsecured. The victim does wish to pursue charges, no leads or suspects at this time.
7-20 Police were called to the storage area for a local sporting goods canter in the 300 block of Remington Road where the manager reports the locked metal fence was forced open by an unknown suspect using an unknown method. One of the boats was moved, but nothing was stolen. The manager does not wish to pursue prosecution.
7-22 On Howe Road, officers conducted a traffic stop on a Silver 2004 Cadillac. Police spoke to the female driver and male passenger and asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, to which the passenger stated that he had marijuana on his person tucked in his waistband. Once the passenger was asked out of the vehicle, he handed officers 24g of raw Marijuana in 2 separate clear plastic baggies. Summit County K9 assisted on the stop and deployed their K9 which positively alerted on the vehicle. During a probable case search officers located a black handbag containing a clear plastic container with methamphetamine. The passenger admitted to it being methamphetamine and was arrested and transported to FPD for booking. The passenger was released with a court date set for Stow Muni Court and was provided a copy of his charges.
7-22 Police responded to the 4000 block of Americana Drive where a resident reported his Glock 19x was stolen out of his car. The victim reports he only keeps the firearm in his car’s glovebox. The victim stated the last time he saw his firearm was 12:30 on July 18. The victim reports he usually keeps the doors to his car locked, and there were no immediate signs of forced entry. CFPD checked the car and were unable to locate it. The gun was entered in as stolen. The victim wishes to prosecute.
7-23 Police took a report at a grocery store in the 200 block of Howe Avenue where the manager reported that a known female suspect has been stealing merchandise from the establishment over the past several months. According to the manager, the suspect uses the self-checkout registers to scan low-priced yogurt items while placing higher-priced merchandise into bags without scanning those items. The manager states from what she has put together the total loss is $900. The store is willing to pursue criminal charges. A lead has been developed regarding the identity of the suspect.
7-27 It was reported that a vehicle sat through several lights at Portage Trail and 13th Street not moving. A traffic stop was initiated where the driver showed signs of impairment. The driver was identified and field sobriety tests were conducted, including the eye test, the walk and turn, and one-leg stand. The driver was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence. The driver did provide a breath sample showing a BAC of .176. The driver was given a court date and was released to a sober party on a signature bond.
7-27 Police responded to the 800 block of Gaylord Grove where the resident reported that over the past two years, an unknown individual has been dumping baggies containing Black Cherry White Claw tallboy cans in her yard. She stated that on trash collection days, she frequently finds multiple baggies, each containing several cans. The resident advised that she does not know who is responsible for the littering and does not have any surveillance cameras on the property. The resident stated that she would like to pursue littering charges if the responsible individual can be identified. There are no leads at this time.
