This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available July 22 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
7-13 It was reported that a male was sleeping behind the wheel of his car in a parking lot in the 400 block of Howe Avenue and would not wake up. Police were able to wake the suspect who had indicators for impairment. The suspect consented to field sobriety tests and showed clues in the eyes, walk and turn, and one-leg stand. The suspect also had a pill in his bag that he stated was Clonazepam and that he did not have a prescription. The suspect was arrested and charged with physical control, open container, and possession of drugs. The suspect was booked and released on a PR bond and transported to detox. The pill was tagged into property and submitted to BCI for testing.
7-13 In the 200 block of Howe Avenue police were approached by a good samaritan who stated he had just watched a female push a cart of groceries ($549.21) out of the store without paying. Police located the cart of groceries but were unable to locate the suspect. Contact was made with the manager who states the store wishes to prosecute. The report number was provided.
7-14 In the 3400 block of Hudson Drive a 43-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was found to be walking around his neighborhood while intoxicated, carrying a baseball bat and a brick. The suspect raised the bat at a neighbor’s dog while walking, causing alarm to the owner and other neighbors. A warrant was signed for the suspect’s arrest.
7-14 While investigating a private property accident report in the 2700 block of Front Street, one of the drivers was found to be intoxicated. He had been drinking after the accident, so police were unable to perform field sobriety tests. The driver was uncooperative in providing his information to officers and repeatedly cussed out and used inappropriate language towards other customers, including the witnesses to the accident, as they completed written statements. After being advised to leave, per the owner of the establishment, he refused to leave the property or call for a ride. The driver was cited for disorderly conduct and transported to detox.
7-15 During a traffic stop on Route 8 South a driver was found to be transporting 34.8 grams of marijuana in an open plastic bag. The bag was not the original packaging in which the marijuana was dispensed or sold. The driver was issued a summons and released on scene.
7-15 Police responded to the 3100 block of Wilson Street where it was reported that an unknown suspect entered an unlocked motor vehicle while it was parked in his driveway and rummaged through its compartments. Nothing was stolen and the victim declined prosecution.
7-16 A 60-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman reported that she was called by an unknown male who stated he was with the Summit County Sheriff’s office. The male stated the woman had an active warrant and needed to follow the provided instruction to pay $1,460 or she would be arrested. The woman paid the unknown male using bitcoin totaling the amount of $1,460. The woman does wish to prosecute if the male can be identified. There are leads at this time.
7-16 During a traffic stop at Bailey Road and Front Street, a 38-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman was found to be in possession of 2.35 grams of a crystal-like substance that NIK tested positive for methamphetamine, a glass pipe with burnt/white residue, most commonly used for the ingestion of methamphetamine, and a $1 bill with white residue that NIK tested positive for methamphetamine. Her passenger was found to be in possession of an open container of Lager Beer that was half full.
7-16 A department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that a male concealed a bottle of lotion in his pants and crossed the line of sale without purchasing. The lotion was recovered from the front of the suspect’s pants. The cost of the bottle of lotion came out to $3.19. The store requested to prosecute and did sign charges. The store also advised the suspect of trespass.
7-20 Residents in the 1800 block of 8th street reported that an unknown person(s) did break into her unlocked car and her boyfriend’s car while in their driveway. Nothing was taken from his vehicle, but loose change was removed from her vehicle to the value of $15. There are no leads or suspects. No prosecution desired.
7-20 Police responded to the 2600 block of 11th street where a resident reported an unknown suspect broke into her unlocked car and removed her Ohio Drivers license and a bag containing miscellaneous valued jewelry estimated at $130. The suspects also broke into her other unlocked car, though nothing was taken from that vehicle. The vehicles were parked in her driveway. There are no leads or suspects.
