This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports between January 18-26 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
January 21 The loss prevention officer of a Bailey Road grocery store reported that two individuals stole $537 worth of groceries from one of their locations in Stow and tried to return the items to the Bailey Road store. The store chose not to prosecute for receiving stolen property, however they did retain the property.
January 22 The loss prevention officer of the same Bailey Road grocery store reported that an individual attempted to scan a produce tag of $5.94 in order to purchase $57.94 worth of groceries then leave the store. The individual was apprehended and held for Cuyahoga Falls police. The person was charged with a 1st degree misdemeanor and is barred from ever entering the store again.
January 23 A resident in the 1300 block of Sackett Ave. reported to have paid in two $50-installment payments using a cash app for a MacBook Air 13 on Facebook Marketplace. The seller disconnected their phone and stopped all communication with the buyer since January 9. No arrests have been made.
January 23 A resident in the 1800 block of Second Street reported a person known to her slapped her, threw a magazine at her, and called other people names in the lobby of their apartment building. The individual was charged with Disorderly Conduct and referred to the Stow Municipal Court.
January 24 A resident in the 2200 block of High Street reported that she last saw her car when she parked it on January 20 in her building’s parking lot. When she returned on January 24, the car was gone and all that remained was some broken glass. There are no suspects at this time, however the car has been turned into LEADS as stolen.
January 26 An optician in the 2000 block of Portage Trail reported an unknown male entered the store on both January 24 and January 26 and concealed 18 sets of frames on his person valued at $4,900 during his two visits. Police are investigating.
