City Council Minutes Report: November 28, 2022

City Council

Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.

The following legislation was assigned to the proper committees:

A-131: An ordinance authorizing the director of finance to enter into a contract or contracts without competitive bidding with the Metropolitan Regional Service Council Dba Northeast Ohio Network for Educational Technology for the purchase of IP telephony and voicemail services for a period not to exceed three years. Assigned to the finance committee to be discussed December 5.

A-132: An ordinance authorizing the mayor, as director of public safety, to enter into a contract or contracts, without competitive bidding, with Axon Enterprises, Inc. for the purchase of the TASER 7 plan for use by the city’s safety forces. Assigned to the finance committee to be discussed December 5.

A-133: An ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into a contract or contracts with Medical Mutual of Ohio for stop-loss insurance coverage for the city’s self-insured medical and prescription drug plans, for a period not to exceed one year. Assigned to the finance committee to be discussed December 5.

A-134: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, after publicly advertising for bids, for the transfer, processing and sale of recyclable materials acquired by the city through its curbside recycling program. Assigned to the public and industrial improvements committee to be discussed December 5.

A-135: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, after publicly advertising for bids, for the disposal of municipal solid waste. Assigned to the public and industrial improvements committee to be discussed December 5.

A-136: An ordinance authorizing the mayor, as director of public safety, to enter into a contract or contracts with Hasenstab Architects for architectural design services related to the construction of the new Fire Station 4 campus, including a training facility and fire prop. Assigned to the public and industrial improvements committee to be discussed December 5.

A-137: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, after publicly advertising for bids, for the installation of a new 12” water main on West Portage Trail from Valley Road to Northampton Road. Assigned to the public and industrial improvements committee to be discussed December 5.

A-138: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, after publicly advertising for bids, for the Cochran Road Regional Wetland Restoration. Assigned to the public and industrial improvements committee to be discussed December 5.

Reports of Council’s Standing Committees

Finance & Appropriations:

A-126: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts with Siemens Energy for the purchase of three 833kVA regulators. Passed 9-0.

Public & Industrial Improvements:

A-127: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, after publicly advertising for bids, for the Lippman Parkway storm sewer replacement.  Passed 9-0.

A-128: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, after publicly advertising for bids, for the storm sewer improvements in Preston Park. Passed 9-0.

A-129: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, with SSOE Group, without competitive bidding, for engineering services related to upgrades at the CF1 and CF2 generators. Passed 9-0.

The finance committee meeting that was scheduled for this night to discuss the city’s 2023 budget was postponed until next Monday, December 5 due to lack of quorum within the finance committee due to the absences of Councilman Miller and Councilman Gorbach.
