City Council Minutes Report: April 1, 2024

City Council News & Politics

Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.

Finance & Appropriations:

Temp. Ord. A-40: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to purchase certain interests in real property from David B. Sr. and Mary Schrembeck, necessary for the improvement of State Road, Seasons Road, and Wyoga Lake Road.

City Council voted 11-0 to meet in executive session to discuss the purchase of this property with the city’s law department. Council rules allow legislation to be discussed in private under certain conditions. In the case of this legislation “Purchase, sale, or the development of real property where premature disclosure of information would give an unfair competitive or bargaining advantage to a person, or otherwise adversely affect the general public interest.” When Council returned the committee voted to bring this out for a vote before all of city council.

Public & Industrial Improvements:

Temp. Ord. A-41: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the rehabilitation and remodeling of City Hall bathrooms. Building and Grounds Manager John Ball said the project is anticipated to take 6-8 months for the rest rooms on all floors to be completed and the projected cost will be within the budgeted $678k. The committee voted to bring this out for a vote before all of city council.

Please note that during Council’s 3-11 meeting it was voted that council would cancel its meeting for April 8, 2024(11-0) due to the possibility of crowds, and lack of parking near the city building during the solar event. City Council will meet April 15 for both City Council and committee meetings to be held the same night starting at 6:30 pm.
