Mayor Walters wanted to publicly thank the 5 residents and three police officers who helped the wheelchair-bound victim of a fire/explosion last Wednesday on Barns Avenue. After the initial calls to Cuyahoga Falls Fire, police showed up as first responders. The three officers and five residents worked together, as Walters said “Between the neighbors and the three officers, the quick action saved the life of the neighbor. They got her out the front door and away from the front wall of the building, shielding her from the heat with a table and even used a garden hose to keep the flames off of the victim.” Currently the victim is in stable condition. Fire Departments from Tallmadge, Munroe Falls, Stow, and Akron also responded.
