City Council Minutes Report: May 4, 2026

City Council News & Politics

Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.

Planning & Zoning:

A-21:  An ordinance approving text amendments to the Cuyahoga Falls General Development Code, adopting regulations regarding best management practices for storm water facilities, as more fully described and depicted herein. The meeting began with a public hearing for this legislation with no residents to speak either in favor or against the legislation. City Engineer Tony Demasi went over the changes to the ordinance that passed the planning commission in March of this year. Council previously approved section 929 and section 1310 of the code earlier this year; this last section (1124.2 ) deals with stormwater and the changes made include a minimum of 2” diameter drain pipes, the installation of anti-clogging devices and other best practices approved by the EPA. The committee voted to bring this out for a vote of full council next Monday May 11.

A-34: An ordinance accepting the recommendation of the planning commission for the construction of a 26,000 sq. ft. addition for the Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (CVCA) located at 4687 Wyoga Lake Road. Planning Director Rob Kurtz gave an overview of the proposed expansion that will include 14 new classrooms and offices. The cost is estimated at $8.8 million and was approved by the planning commission April 21. The expansion is expected to add 30 more jobs to the community as well. The contractors in charge of the proposed expansion were also present and available to answer questions if needed. The committee voted to bring this out for a vote of full council next Monday, May 11.

Finance & Appropriations:

A-35: An ordinance authorizing the Parks and Recreation Board to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the installation of a pre-fabricated ADA compliant restroom at Valley Vista Park. This legislation was presented by Parks Director Dr. Sara Kline. This unit will be identical to the one installed at Kennedy Park last year and, as the name implies, it will be ADA Compliant. This legislation will cover the installation costs and was capped at $150k.  The committee voted to bring this out for a vote of full council next Monday May 11.
