This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available January 14 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

1-2  A grocery store in the 2600 block of State Road reported two unknown males entered the store and later passed the last point of sale without attempting to pay for their items. The older unknown male passed the last point of sale without purchasing a bag of safety salt while the younger male passed the last point of sale without purchasing several cases of soda. The younger male also had several unknown items in the cart not paid for. Estimated total loss is $39.96 and the store wishes to prosecute.

1-3  A resident reported a male was outside screaming at a residence in the 1800 block of Olympic Street. Officers located the male banging on a door, extremely intoxicated and having trouble standing and walking on his own. He was charged with disorderly conduct Intox, transported and released to Detox.

1-3  Cuyahoga Falls Police initiated a traffic stop for a marked lanes violation on Howe Avenue near State Route 8. The driver and sole occupant was requested to step out of the vehicle. Once out of the vehicle, a CFPD K9 hit on the car. A probable cause search revealed two used needles and a rubber band that appeared to have been used as a tourniquet. These items were in a black bag on the passenger seat. The driver is charged with Marked lanes, Drug Abuse Instruments, and Drug Paraphernalia.

1-6  Police responded to the 2400 block of Eighth Street where a resident reported she believes a known suspect took her purse out of her vehicle. Officers spoke to the suspect who allowed officers inside the home to search for the purse. Officers were unable to locate the purse and advised the victim of this. At this time officers have no further leads. The items inside the victim’s purse were estimated at $75. The victim stated she does want to prosecute.

1-7  A Second Street man reported to CFPD that an unknown person contacted his mother whom he cares for. They were pretending to be from Social Security and convinced her to give them her personal information which was later used to access her Direct Express Social Security Account. At this time, she is out $1,452. The family would like to prosecute. There are no leads.

1-7  A Francis Avenue resident reported that they discovered a bullet hole in their wall and found the bullet in a nearby room. The bullet appeared to have come from the adjoining duplex. There were no injuries. Contact was made with the neighbor, who admitted that he heard a noise at his unlocked back door. He grabbed his firearm to investigate and while loading it, accidentally discharged it, through his wall into the other residence. There were also no injuries. The man was arrested for discharging a firearm within the city. He was transported to CFPD where he was booked and released on a signature bond. His firearm and evidence were seized.

1-7  CFPD was dispatched to a convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street for a report of a theft. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect walking out of the store. Officers detained the suspect and observed video footage of the suspect taking (1) $2.49 bag of Snyder Jalapeno potato chips and (1) $8.99 Hormel Pepperoni snack box for a total of $11.48 past the final point of sale without paying. The suspect was given a theft complaint and was trespassed. All items were recovered and returned.

1-8  Police attempted to make a traffic stop on a subject operating a motorcycle for several traffic violations, including marked lanes on Main Street near Howe Avenue, no license plate, and display of lighted lights. The unknown driver, wearing all dark clothing and a red helmet, fled from law enforcement. The pursuit reached speeds in excess of 60 miles per hour with dangerous traffic conditions. The unknown driver eventually left the roadway and drove where patrol cars could not access, and police lost site of the vehicle. After a search, nothing was located and officers returned to Cuyahoga Falls city limits.

1-8  Police responded to a shoplifting call at a bargain store in the 500 block of Howe Avenue. An employee of the store reports that an unknown male came into the store with a nearly empty backpack and then left with it completely full. The contents and their value is unknown. The employee states the male was also carrying a blanket as he was exiting the store. He was confronted and the blanket was retained. The employee reported that the store will prosecute.

1-9  After a traffic stop at Howe Avenue and Main Street a probable cause search of the vehicle discovered several pieces of a crystal substance was located on the passenger floorboard. That substance was field tested and showed positive for Methamphetamine and weighed 0.4 grams. The passenger stated the meth was his and was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance.

1-9  Police initiated a traffic stop in the area of Loomis Avenue and Main Street  on a red Mazda SUV without tail lights on after dark. Police made contact with the driver who had a probation violation warrant out of York County, PA, which was within the pick-up radius. York County did confirm the warrant and the Summit County l Sheriff’s  office advised they would hold on behalf of York County. The driver was arrested for the warrant and while police were retrieving his cell phone from the vehicle and doing an inventory for the tow incident to arrest, found a glass pipe with burnt marijuana in the center console in plain view. A probable cause search of the vehicle found two more pipes, both with white powder residue, and a marijuana grinder in the vehicle. The driver was charged with a traffic violation and drug paraphernalia. He was taken to Summit County Jail where he was transferred into their custody.

1-11  A Chart Road resident reported to police that on January 10 from the times of 1200 to 1800 her horse was subjected to cruelty by being shot with a paint ball. The horse did not sustain injury. There are no leads or suspects. The owner states she will prosecute.

1-11 A Lincoln Avenue resident reports a male trespassing on her property in the 800 block of Lincoln Avenue at approximately 0415 hours. This male walked under a covered portion of the resident’s driveway, her front porch, and had looked inside her mailbox. The resident  reported no stolen items. The resident will prosecute for trespassing. The suspect in this case was identified after another resident recognized him and advised CFPD. The suspect has been charged with Criminal Trespass.

1-12  Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for driving without lights after dark on Tallmadge Road and Clyde Avenue. Police noticed the smell of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. The driver admitted to drinking and consented to performing field sobriety tests; he performed poorly and was arrested for OVI. The driver provided a breath sample of .231 BAC. He was transported to the CFPD for booking and was charged with OVI and Headlights. After booking, he was transported to Summit County Jail  and released into their custody. A tow report was completed.

1-12  Police took a report in the 1300 block of Kennedy Drive where the  resident reports an unknown person(s) gained entry into his unlocked vehicle and stole his unloaded Taurus G3C 9mm firearm that was located between his driver’s seat and center console and $200. The firearm was worth $299.99 for a total of $499.99 stolen. The firearm was entered into LEADS. The resident does wish to prosecute but there are currently no leads at this time.
