This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available August 13 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

8-4  Police were called to a grocery store in the 200 block of Howe Avenue where a Canton woman reported that an unknown male became agitated while she was taking time in line at the cash register and made threats to harm her, including challenging her to a fight in the parking lot. The suspect is described as a light-skinned male, approximately 6 feet tall, over 200 lbs, with hazel eyes. The woman stated she yelled back at the male in response. The suspect left the scene in a black sedan. Witnesses confirmed hearing the yelling but did not hear any threats; she mentioned that video footage may be available later. The victim was uncertain whether she believed the threats were credible. The unknown male had left the scene, and no further action was taken.

8-4  The manager of a convenience store in the 3900 block of State Road reported to police that two unidentified females entered the store and attempted to purchase a vape. The manager stated that she refused the sale because neither individual presented valid identification. According to the manager, the females became irate and threw candy from a display at her. She reported that some of the candy struck her legs, but she did not sustain any injuries. The manager expressed her desire to pursue prosecution.

8-4  A Seibel Drive resident contacted police to report that he was contacted by an unknown individual claiming to be working with the FTC on a money laundering case. The victim was told if he did not comply, a warrant would be issued for his arrest. He gathered $1,400 dollars in gift cards and made another call giving the cards’ information over the phone. The victim would like to prosecute if located.

8-6  During a traffic stop on Route 8 South at Howe Avenue the driver consented to a search of the vehicle. One passenger disclosed the presence of used hypodermic needles in his bag. A search revealed a plastic bag containing 38 white pills marked “E P” that appeared to be pressed and unable to be identified via drugs.com, 3 used hypodermic needles, tin foil with residue, 2 condoms with residue, and 2 empty plastic bags with white residue. The illegal items were seized. All occupants were released pending BCI lab results for potential charges.

8-6  A resident in the 2400 block of Fourth Street reported to police that someone took her Bank of America Visa bank card and $7.00. The card and money were in the woman’s purse that was left in an unlocked locker in the adult woman’s locker room at the Natatorium. The total loss was $9.08. She will prosecute for theft.

8-8  Loss Prevention a grocery store in the 2600 block of State Road reported a male stole (1) Casamigos Margarita alcoholic beverage, valued at $17.99, by leaving the store without paying. He was held for police then trespassed from the store and released with a summons.

8-8  The manager of a boutique in the 1200 block of Main Street reported to police that on August 6 around 9:15 pm, an unknown suspect entered the store. While in the store, the suspect was seen on camera grabbing a pack of Glow in the dark condoms and screaming O rings, putting them down his pants. The items cost around $12.94. The suspect then left the store without paying. There are leads and no suspects. The manager will prosecute.

8-9  Officers were investigating a traffic stop on a Volkswagen Jetta on Bath Road near Graham Road when they observed indicators of impairment on the driver and placed him through field sobriety tests. Concluding the test, the driver was subsequently arrested for OVI. The driver was processed at the Cuyahoga Falls Jail and provided officers with a breath sample, which determined his BAC to be .198. He was released on a PR bond and to a sober party. The vehicle was towed to B&B Towing.

8-9  A car dealer in the 2400 block of Front Street summoned police for an alarm drop. The building was secured and the manager arrived on scene. The manager stated that the front door to the corvette building was damaged but still locked. There were no other damages throughout the other commercial buildings. The manager was able to look at some store video but was unable to provide a suspect description. There are leads.

8-9  Police responded to a cellular store in the 300 block of Howe Avenue for a male attempting to use a forged ID to purchase devices. Upon arrival police saw a male leaving the store matching the suspect’s description. When police exited their patrol vehicle, the male fled on foot. The male was ordered to stop and that he was under arrest. Officers successfully restrained the male on the ground, who became physically resistive and tried kicking his wallet into a nearby sewer during his arrest. The wallet contained several forged ID cards, including the one used during the incident at the local business. The male attempted to purchase $2,300 worth of merchandise while passing a fake ID. The suspect identified himself to the business as the account holder. The real account holder was contacted and did prosecute for Identity Fraud, and the store did prosecute for the attempted theft. The suspect was charged with obstructing official business, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, attempted shoplifting, three counts of possession of false identifying information, two counts of forgery, and identity fraud. The suspect was transported to the Summit County Jail without bond.

8-9  Police responded to the 2700 block of 11th street for a complaint of an abandoned junk motor vehicle  The complaint listed that the vehicle was inoperable and had its license expired. The resident stated that the vehicle was registered to their ex-husband and that he did not want the vehicle. They were informed of the follow-up process for abandoned and junk motor vehicles. The resident’s plan was to have the vehicle removed from their property before a follow-up on August 23.

8-10  Cuyahoga Falls Police stopped and cited a 39-year-old Akron man for  knowingly crossing outside of a marked crosswalk between adjacent intersections at which traffic control signals are in operation. The man was issued a citation and released from the scene.

8-11  Police responded to the 2600 block of Front Street for a resident who had  called the 911 emergency line for a non-emergency situation. The resident was warned three times in the last three days for misuse of 911. The man was arrested, charged, and released on bond.

8-11  During a traffic stop on Route 8 South at Howe Avenue police discovered  the driver did knowingly possess a usable amount of marijuana that was located in the center console of his vehicle. The driver admitted to officers that the marijuana was in the vehicle and in his possession while he was under the age of 21. The driver was charged. Police also discovered that the passenger knowingly possessed an open container of Cutwater lime margarita while being in a moving automobile. The open container was located in the passenger’s purse on the floorboard of the passenger side of the vehicle. The passenger was charged with open container.

8-12  Police again responded to the 2600 block of Front street for a resident who had called 911 for a non-emergency situation. The resident was warned multiple times and arrested previously for the same type of incident. The resident was taken into custody for booking and released on a PR bond.
