This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available July 23 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
7-14 A resident in the 1800 block of Second Street contacted police after an unknown suspect stole his package delivered by FedEx after it was delivered to the mail room in his apartment building. The package was delivered on July 9 at 11:59 A.M. The victim did not realize the package was delivered until July 12 and upon checking on it, found that it was not there. The package contained floss picks and Tylenol, valued at $36.72. He did not wish to prosecute.
7-16 A Cuyahoga Falls resident contacted police after realizing that he was scammed out of approximately $1,950 for a fake rental house listing on Facebook. The victim sent the money via Cash App and gift cards to an unknown suspect, whom he believed was the owner, who then deleted the rental listing on Facebook. There are no known or local leads, and the victim did wish to prosecute.
7-16 Police conducted a traffic stop on State Route 8 near the Howe Avenue exit involving the known driver and passengers all being 18 years of age. Upon detecting the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, a search was conducted. In one suspect’s purse, 9.1 grams of marijuana were found in two plastic bags. Another suspect was found in possession of 7.7 grams of marijuana in a zip lock bag and a blunt, as well as a grinder containing marijuana residue. The driver was cited for speeding, while both passengers were cited for underage possession of marijuana. All parties were released, and the illegal items were seized.
7-16 A department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue requested police after observing a suspect walk past the registers and attempted to leave the store without paying for two Ninja slushie machines valued at $699.98. The store recovered the merchandise. A summons was issued to the suspect for theft with a court date at Stow Municipal Court.
7-16 Loss prevention from a grocery store in the 2600 block of State Road contacted police after observing a female attempt to take products. Loss prevention recognized the female as a previous shoplifter who had been trespassed from the store. Contact was made with the suspect who was found in the store and was given a trespass notice on December 12, 2024. She was arrested on outstanding warrants. The suspect was also charged with criminal trespassing with a court date attached to her other warrants.
7-17 Police were summoned by loss prevention at a drug store in the 2600 block of State Road who advised them that an unknown suspect stole diapers. Loss prevention advised the male took four different boxes valued around $120. The store does wish to prosecute if a suspect is identified.
7-18 Police took a report at a tavern in the 2700 block of Front Street from a patron who reported his silver iPhone 16 with black case was taken without permission. The phone was valued at $1200, and the victim does wish to prosecute. There is one suspect. Police were contacted by Stow Police, and they stated that they were able to locate and recover the phone in their jurisdiction and return it to the victim. Cleared without further incident.
7-18 Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of State Road and Sackett Avenue. The driver consented to a search of the vehicle, during which they located an open 24oz Edge beer and a small metal crude pipe with char marks. The suspect was charged with open container and possession of drug paraphernalia and released on scene.
7-19 An anonymous caller reported dogs barking in the area of 13th street and Silver Lake Avenue. Police checked the area and located a dog barking in the home in the 2900 block of 13th Street. The dog was secured in the home, but the barking could be heard from outside, through the closed windows. Police spoke with a resident at the home and advised them of the barking dog ordinances and they were issued a warning. And police cleared without further incident.
7-19 An individual called the police to report that his identity was stolen and that he was at a convenience store in the 2800 block of State Road. When police arrived, the suspect was highly intoxicated and belligerent. He stated that he did not want a report but a place to sleep for the evening. He was cited for disorderly conduct- intox and before transport to detox, the suspect then told police that he had bombs in his shoes and was showing homicidal tendencies. He was taken to a local hospital and held into their care.
7-21 Police initiated a traffic stop on Howe Avenue near East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue The driver was identified by his license plate number, a male with multiple felony warrants and a suspended driver’s license. After the officer initiated the overhead lights and sirens, The suspect accelerated at a high rate of speed going west on Howe Avenue near Akron city limits at approximately 60 mph. The suspect continued west and crossed the double yellow line into oncoming traffic. The suspect continued west through the red light at the intersection of Front Street and East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue. Pursuit speeds reached approximately 50 mph and was terminated per the shift supervisor shortly after. The total pursuit lasted approximately 30 seconds. A warrant for Failure to Comply Fleeing and Eluding 2921.331 (B), a felony of the 4th degree, is being requested. The suspect was also charged with Driving Under Suspension Failure to Reinstate, Driving Under Suspension Non-Compliance, and Display of License Plate.
7-21 A 17th Street resident contacted police after discovering that an unknown person or persons entered his vehicle without permission and took multiple Rigid brand power tools and a Craftsman socket set estimated to be worth $1640. There are no leads or suspects at this time. The victim does wish to prosecute.
