This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available January 29 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
1-18 A city employee reports one of the glass doors at the green parking deck was shattered. The door is located on the top level and leads into the stairwell closest to Front Street. No items were found in the immediate vicinity that could have been used to break the door. The City of Cuyahoga Falls Parks and Rec. Dept. was contacted to have the door boarded up until proper repairs can be made.
1-21 The loss prevention officer at a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that an unknown male and female passed the final point of sale without paying for merchandise they had in a shopping cart. Store personnel reports they confronted the unknown male and unknown female in the vestibule and that they left the cart with Loss Prevention, got into a pickup truck and left the parking lot. Management reports all of the merchandise was recovered. The total value of the merchandise is $175.27 and the store will prosecute. There is no lead at this time.
1-21 A Cuyahoga Falls man reported that an unknown person did knowingly take his OH license plate off of his 2017 Dodge truck. The man stated that the last known place he had it was when he was in the area of Home Depot at 325 Howe Ave. There are no leads or suspects and the owner will prosecute. A LEADS entry was made.
1-22 During a traffic stop at Broad Boulevard and Front Street police an officer spoke with the driver and passenger and detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana, after which they conducted a vehicle search and found several bags of marijuana (under the legal limit) and burnt marijuana roaches in a bottle. The woman admitted to smoking in the vehicle. The driver was found to be under suspension and had an outstanding warrant from Barberton PD for a traffic violation. The driver was cited and released after performing a satisfactory SFST. The driver was cleared on field sobriety tests but was arrested and transferred to Barberton PD custody.
1-22 During a warrant for arrest, a Munroe Falls woman was found possessing a hypodermic syringe in her jacket pocket. Another hypodermic syringe was found concealed in her bra during booking. The suspect stated she last used narcotics that morning, and that she has needle marks on her elbow. The suspect was booked into CFPD jail for her FTA warrants, given copies of her WOC, and arrested for Possessing Drug Abuse Instruments.
1-22 A Stow man was arrested when he called police to report that he was intoxicated and had hit a building. He was driving a red Pontiac and struck the building at 4133 State Road. The suspect was arrested for OVI and transported to the Cuyahoga Falls jail. He was booked and released on personal bond. He was given a courtesy transport home and released into the care of a sober individual.
1-23 A Main Street car dealership reported to police that one of their vehicles, a gray 2021 Ford Explorer XLT, is gone from the lot and is believed to be stolen. Management last knew the Explorer to be there on January 1, 2025 during a physical inventory. The dealership discovered the vehicle was missing approximately one week ago. The manager stated that since then they have been double checking the lot and with all their vendors to ensure the vehicle was not misplaced. There are no leads, and all the dealership knows is that the Explorer and its spare key are gone. Prosecution is desired and the vehicle is being entered into LEADS as stolen.
1-23 The manager of a discount store in the 500 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that a suspect came into the store and took four pairs of jeans, one t-shirt and four hoodies ($78.91) and walked out of the store without paying. Police were able to locate the suspect walking in a fast-food parking lot to which he complied and stopped when advised to do so. The suspect stated he dropped the items outside the door and did not have them on him anymore. Officers checked the area for the items and were unable to locate them where the suspect stated. The suspect was charged with Theft M1 and provided a court date at Stow Municipal Court. The suspect was advised he was now trespassed from the store and to not return. Officers cleared without further incident.
