Downtown Cuyahoga Falls will be shining bright with holiday cheer next weekend when the downtown tree lighting festival happens on Saturday, November 27. With many COVID-19 restrictions reduced and vaccination rates on the rise now that everyone 5 years old and up are eligible, the city has come out of festival hibernation. Last year participants could only watch virtually as the tree lighting occured via an online video.
Beginning at 4:00pm, this year’s festivities will include: a live DJ, ice carving demonstrations, live reindeer, photos with characters, and train rides for kids. Food trucks from Wholly Frijoles, Jet’s Pizza, DeLiberato’s Bakery, and more will also line Front street to keep guests warm and stuffed with tasty treats. Among the guests for the festival will be Mayor Don Walters and Santa Claus, who will arrive by fire truck at 6pm to officiate the lighting, following a performance by the Northeast Ohio Tuba Euphonium Ensemble.
The downtown ice rink will also open to the public on November 27 at noon. It will remain open Fridays 3pm-8pm and Saturdays & Sundays 12pm-8pm, with the exception of special holiday hours. Admission to the rink is free, and skates are available to rent for $4.
