Cuyahoga Falls Police Report: December 4, 2024

This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available December 4 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

11-20  The manager of a grocery store in the 2600 block of State Road reported a thwarted shoplifting attempt to police after observing an unknown male pushing out a cart full of groceries without paying. He confronted the suspect who ran off leaving the groceries behind. The total was stated to be $760.20. No leads or suspects. Prosecution is desired.

11-22  Police were requested due to a suspicious solicitor in the neighborhood surrounding 26th street and Phelps Avenue A known male was located and walking door-to-door offering roofing inspections for a Hudson-based company. The male did not have a registration from the mayor to solicit door to door and was warned for it.

11-23  Police were requested to the 1700 block of Bailey Road in regard to loud music. When they arrived loud bass and audible music could be heard outside the residence. Police made contact with the resident and advised to lower the volume of the music and gave a warning.

11-24  Police responded to a noise complaint in the 2200 block of Front Street for a noise complaint. When the police arrived, they observed loud music playing outside the establishment. Officers contacted the manager, and they were advised to turn the music down and were given a warning for loud music.

11-25  Police received reports of a woman wandering in and out of traffic near a convenience store at Portage Trail and Northampton Road. The store manager reported to police that the known female became upset after being asked to show ID to buy a black and mild. She became disorderly and left. The store wishes her trespassed from the location for which the known female was advised, as well as warned for disorderly conduct.

11-25  During a traffic stop on Route 8 South near Howe Avenue police identified the driver and identified the passenger. The passenger had multiple warrants for theft, including one through CFPD, and was arrested. When he was removed from the vehicle, officers observed in the passenger side door used hypodermic needles. The suspect admitted the needles were his and were used to inject fentanyl. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and nothing else illegal was located. The driver was cited for his violations and the vehicle was towed due to lack of a valid driver. The passenger was arrested, booked, charged and later released. Other departments declined to take the suspect on his warrants. Needles were photographed for evidentiary purposes.

11-26  Police responded to the report of a shoplifter in the 2600 block of State Road where the manager informed police that an unknown male wearing all black placed 72 individual items into a shopping cart totaling $703.94 and left the final point of sale without paying. The unknown suspect was stopped outside the store and all items were returned. The store does wish to pursue charges.

11-29  After making a traffic stop on State Road near Highbridge Road, police noticed indicators of impairment from the Akron man behind the wheel. The driver was placed through SFST (Standardized Field Sobriety Test) and ARIDE (Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement). After concluding the test he was subsequently arrested and transported to Cuyahoga Falls Jail where he was processed. The suspect provided officers with a urine sample and the sample was sent off for further analysis. He was released on a PR bond to a sober party. The vehicle was impounded.

11-30  During a traffic stop on Route 8 South near Howe Avenue police identified the driver and passenger. The passenger did knowingly possess an open container of alcohol as a passenger in a motor vehicle, to wit; the woman had an open bottle of tequila and a plastic cup of the liquor while a passenger in a motor vehicle. The passenger was issued a summons on scene and arrested on an unrelated warrant.

12-01  Police observed a man in the 2200 block of Second Street asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle. The man’s vehicle was running, his foot on the brake, and he was drooling on himself. After several attempts to gain the suspect’s attention, he eventually woke up. The suspect smelled like alcohol and could not follow directions. The suspect also admitted he was getting ready to drive. After voluntary sobriety testing the man was arrested and charged with physical control of a vehicle while under the influence. The suspect later provided a breath sample of .161 BAC. He was released to a sober party.

12-03  A Uniontown man reported to police his truck was broken into while shopping at a home improvement store in the 300 block of Howe Avenue. The man reported that while he was inside the store tools were stolen from his truck by an unknown suspect. The victim estimated the tools stolen at $600 and he does wish to prosecute if a suspect is identified.

12-03  Police charged a Ravenna man for shoplifting after the manager of a variety store in the 600 block of Portage Path witnessed the suspect remove merchandise from the store using his jacket to conceal the items and walk past the point of sale without paying. The merchandise was recovered by the manager. The total loss is $43.94. The man was charged with theft.
