This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available October 30 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

10-15  A department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue requested police for a shoplifting complaint. According to a store employee an older female left the store with a cart full of belongings. She got in a green Ford and drove away. He stated another female that came with the older female was still in the store. While officers were on scene the second woman passed the payment area with more unpaid merchandise. She then ran from the store and was apprehended by officers. This cart totaled  $288.17 in miscellaneous merchandise that was all recovered. She was issued a summons for M1 theft. The other female that had already left was identified. She stole $278.20 worth of merchandise. A warrant was issued for her arrest. The first woman was advised that she was trespassed from the store.

10-17  Police were called to the 2400 block of Sackett Avenue when an unknown subject threw a sign from her apartment’s front yard through her living room window. The damage done was worth $400. Both the resident and landlord will sign charges. There is a suspect.

10-18  Police were called to a grocery store in the 2600 block of State Road for a shoplifter. According to store personnel the suspect stole multiple items from the store by pushing a cart full of unpaid merchandise out of the store. The manager attempted to stop the suspect who abandoned the cart and ran towards State Road. The total loss to the store is $255.07. The store will prosecute.

10-19  Police were requested at a fast-food restaurant in the 2600 block of State Road where the manager reported that an unknown female DoorDash driver threatened to shoot up the restaurant. The manager reported he and the female got into an argument after he informed her they could not complete the order. He stated the female then pulled away from the window and he said “Cry about it” to her referencing their argument. According to the manager the female then stopped her vehicle and said, “Shut up I’ll shoot up the store.” The manager stated he believed the threat to be credible, but did not see a weapon. He wishes to have the female trespassed from the business; however, he declined prosecution for menacing.

10-19  Police responded to the 700 block of Dominic Drive where a man was warned for disorderly conduct after he stood on the front porch of his residence while holding a handgun and yelled at two lawn care employees across the street, causing them alarm. There were no other criminal violations and no further action taken.

10-19  During a routine traffic stop in the 2200 block of State Road, a male in the back seat of a car provided the officer numerous times with a false name and social security number in an attempt to delay the investigation and prevent the officer from learning of his numerous warrants. Eventually the police were able to identify the male through LEADS and NCIC and he was arrested on his warrants and obstructing official business.

10-19  The manager of a Bailey Road grocery store reported to police that a male shoplifted several cans of cat food by putting them in his own bag and leaving without paying. The male surrendered himself to loss prevention and was identified. The total value of stolen food was $14.78 which was recovered. The store did wish to prosecute, and the man was charged with M-1 Theft and released by summons from the scene.

10-22  Loss prevention from a drugstore in the 600 block of Portage Trail reported to police that they had detained a suspect for shoplifting. The woman placed miscellaneous razors and cleaning products inside her purse ($99.38) and attempted to leave without paying for them. The suspect was issued a summons through Stow Municipal Court and trespassed from the store.

10-22  Police were requested at Indian Mountain Park after a resident reported an unknown male was visibly intoxicated and causing an inconvenience at the park. The male was located, cited for disorderly conduct and transported by CFFD for medical care due to his level of intoxication.

10-22  The owner of a restaurant in the 4800 block of State Road reported an unknown person(s) did attempt to break into his business through the back door by an unknown means. The owner states that the rear security door was damaged in an attempt to make entry. Entry was not made into the building. There were tool marks on the lock and frame and the door-opening mechanism was broken off from the door side attachment point. Estimated cost of the door is $200. The owner states that he does not wish to prosecute at this time.

10-24  A Hartville resident reported to police that his 2010 GMC Terrain was stolen on October 22, 2024 from an auto care parking lot in the 70 block of Graham Road. The victim stated that he has a spare key in the vehicle, and it was unlocked. There is video footage of the theft occurring and the victim is in the process of sending it to officers. There is a lead in the case for a possible suspect. The Hartville man does wish to prosecute. The vehicle was entered into LEADs as stolen.

10-24  Police made a traffic stop in the 2700 block of Front Street and found the driver to have an active warrant for weapons under disability through Summit County Sheriff’s Office. During a search of the vehicle officers located two glass pipes with white residue in plain view, along with other paraphernalia. The man was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (M4) and transferred to the Summit County Sheriff’s office on his warrant. After the man was transferred into Summit County’s custody, officers located .10 grams of methamphetamine inside one of the glass pipes that had not yet been smoked. The suspect was issued a charge for possession of a controlled substance (F5) while in Summit County custody.

10-25  A Buckingham Gate resident contacted police to report an unknown suspect had broken the lock on her detached garage and stole several of her items. The items stolen included a bicycle valued at approximately $700 and two boxes containing miscellaneous items valued at approximately $60 each. The resident does want to prosecute.

10-28  A home improvement store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue filed a police report after reports that a known male came into the store on September 30 to rent a backhoe. The employee stated the male was supposed to return the vehicle on October 7, 2024 but has not returned it. Store officials said no one has been able to contact the known male and the store has not attempted to GPS the backhoe. The store wishes for prosecution. There is a lead and a suspect.

10-29  A rental company in the 1900 block of Newberry Street reported to police that an unknown suspect stole a 10-foot box truck from the parking lot on October 23. The total value of the truck is approximately $50,000. The truck’s keys were located in a lockbox near the main entrance of the business where the suspect gained access to the keys to the stolen box truck as well as the keys to a box truck that is still parked in the lot. There are no known suspects at this time and management did wish to prosecute. The stolen box truck has a truck number of TM1789T, located near the top of the box, and a large picture of a Venus fly trap on the side. The truck is to be entered into LEADS as stolen.
