This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available October 2 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

9-9  The manager of a discount store in the 1700 block of State Road contacted police to report that an unknown male removed a Verizon tracFone from a locked case, concealed it in his hoodie and walked out of the store without paying for the item. Value of the phone is $69.00. The store does wish to prosecute. There is video surveillance of the suspect.

9-9  A Cuyahoga Falls resident reported to police that he and a friend were purchasing tickets to a Cleveland Browns game from a Facebook posting. The victim stated that he had messaged the seller of the tickets and sent him a total of $600 via Venmo to purchase four tickets to the game. It was not until they arrived at the game on September 8, that they were advised by staff that the tickets were fakes. There are leads at this time. The victim would like to prosecute in the matter.

9-9  An auto dealer in the 4000 block of State Road was the victim of multiple subjects attempting to break into vehicles. The report was called in by the alarm company and they had advised one of the subjects was carrying a crowbar. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived and officers began searching the area. During the course of the investigation, the alarm company sent officers photographs of the subjects that were attempting to steal vehicles. These subjects were located at a nearby business and subsequently arrested. During an interview with all the suspects, they admitted to “looking” at vehicles in the dealership parking lot. Officers also located the crowbar, carried by one of the suspects, in the trunk of his vehicle. All subjects were processed at the Cuyahoga Falls jail and released on a PR bond.

9-10  The manager of a woman’s boutique in the 1200 block of Main Street reported to police that someone entered her store, concealed a sex toy and fled the scene without paying. The loss was stated to be $79.99. There are leads and prosecution is desired.

9-10  The manager of a convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street reported to police that an unknown suspect stole four 4 packs of Redbull and left towards Route 8 in a silver or tan Buick with no license plate. The total value of stolen items is $37.96. The manager states they will sign charges.

9-10  A thrift store in the 2900 block of State Road summoned police to report that an unknown male suspect did knowingly obtain control over one spiral gold chain necklace ($250 value) without the consent of store staff and did pass the final point of sale without paying for the item. The store does wish to prosecute.

9-10  A Cuyahoga Falls resident reported to police that they had purchased two $100 Visa Gift Cards from a Howe Avenue business. When the victim went to use them, there was no balance on either card. The resident later found that both cards were used for an online purchase by unknown person(s). The victim does wish to prosecute.

9-10  A resident in the 600 block of School Avenue reported to police that she found an Apple Watch on her back patio and believes someone was at her back outside patio the evening before. There is no video surveillance. The Apple Watch was tagged into property. There are no suspects. The resident does not wish to prosecute and was advised to get surveillance on the rear of the property in order to have video evidence of future trespassing or similar crimes.

9-11  Police were summoned to a convenience store in the 2700 block of Front Street after a known subject came into the gas station and harassed customers. Contact was made with the subject, and he was trespassed from premises.

9-27  Cuyahoga Falls Police report that during a narcotics investigation, a suspect was arrested in the parking lot of Americana Drive for a warrant. During the suspect’s arrest, two bundles of white powder were found in his pants pocket. During a vehicle inventory a plastic baggie of white powder was also located on the floor. Both powders tested positive as Fentanyl and weighed a combined 7.5 grams gross weight. The suspect was charged for possession of controlled substances and trafficking of drugs; the operator of the vehicle was also charged with complicity to sell drugs. Both suspects were transported to the Summit County Jail. The case is under investigation by CFP Narcotics.

9-28  A clothing resale store in the 500 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that an unknown female came into the store, selected items and then left the store without paying. The suspect fled in a maroon SUV in an unknown direction. The store owner stated they would prosecute. The estimated amount lost is $200 in miscellaneous women’s clothing. There is one suspect at this time.

9-28  A resident in the 2000 block of Ohio Avenue summoned police after finding that an unknown person entered into his two unlocked vehicles that were parked in the driveway and rummaged through the vehicle contents. There were no items reported missing and no force was used to gain entry. The resident did wish to prosecute. During the investigation, officers were able to later identify the suspect, using possessions that he left behind in and nearby the vehicles. Contact was made with the suspect at CFPD. A complaint was signed by the victim and the suspect was charged with vehicle trespass.

9-28  The owner of an apartment complex in the 2000 block of Front Street made a vandalism report to the police. According to the report, sometime between September 27-28 an unknown individual tore down and stole a yellow “No Parking” sign that hung in the red parking deck entering the second floor. The owner states that the sign costs $120.00 to replace and that trash was also thrown from above into the building’s cooling tower causing damage costing upwards of $1500. He adds that a window’s outer pane was shattered in the walkway from the first floor of the parking garage into the apartment building, costing $100 to replace. The owner believes that these incidents are linked and would like to press charges. There are leads.

9-29  During a routine traffic stop in the 2700 block of Front Street officers observed an odor of alcohol, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech while speaking with a driver who voluntarily performed sobriety testing. After failing sobriety testing, the driver was arrested for OVI and transported to the police department where he provided a breath sample of above the legal limit. Along with OVI the driver was also charged with open container, cracked windshield, taillights, and driving on a suspended license. The driver was later released to a sober party.
