This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available October 1 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

9-19  A discount store in the 1700 block of State Road reported to police that a female entered the store, concealed merchandise in a personal pink backpack, and left the store without paying. The female was immediately stopped by police outside the store and identified. The suspect deprived the store of $65.65 of baby products. The merchandise was recovered and returned. A complaint for theft was signed by the manager.

9-19  A convenience store in the 1600 block of State Road reported to police that five unknown juvenile suspects did knowingly obtain control over approximately 13 consumable drinks ($41.47 total value) without the consent of store staff and left the location without paying for the items, thus depriving the store of its property. Four of the drinks ($11.96 in value) were recovered near the scene and returned to store staff. Management does wish to prosecute.

9-20  An Eighth Street resident contacted police after witnessing a male yelling profanities at a UPS driver. The resident got the male’s license plate before he left the scene. Officers contacted the male at his registered address. The known male stated that the UPS driver nearly crashed into his vehicle while driving down the wrong side of the road. The UPS driver was gone on arrival, and the known male was warned for disorderly conduct.

9-22  A discount store in the 1700 block of State Road reports that a known male stole five Twisted Tea beverages, valued at $17.61. The male placed them inside his clothing and left the store without paying. The suspect was identified as an employee at a neighboring thrift store. His manager notified HR and they will be handling the incident. The suspect has been trespassed from the discount store,  and they declined criminal prosecution.

9-23  Police responded to a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue where loss prevention reported an individual passed the point of sale with household items in a cart for which he did not pay. The total amount unpaid was $548.90. The items were recovered. Loss prevention stated that they did want to prosecute and wanted the suspect trespassed. The suspect was advised that he is no longer welcome at the store, and was charged with theft and released.

9-23  Police were summoned to a grocery store parking lot in the 2600 block of State Road where it was reported a male was nearly struck while in the parking lot. The  reporting party followed the vehicle towards the store then went inside to speak with a manager and further confronted the male driver; he would then return to the parking lot where he parked his wheelchair behind the vehicle in question and began taking photographs of the license plate. The victim stated that the male returned, and words were exchanged once more and the male got back into the vehicle in an attempt to leave and the reporting party admitted to striking the vehicle with his hand. The other party in question immediately left the scene. Witnesses stated that the reporting party was using foul language and derogatory terms towards the other male. The reporting party was given a warning for disorderly conduct and advised to contact law enforcement, rather than taking his own actions.

9-24  A 49-year-old Akron woman was stopped on Buchholzer Boulevard for a traffic violation and gave consent to search her vehicle. The woman was found to be in possession of two glass smoking pipes with burnt residue. She was issued citations for Expired Tags and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and released from the scene. The two glass pipes were tagged into property.

9-25  During a traffic stop on State Route 8 near Howe Avenue for an equipment violation, officers observed a baggie with white substance in plain view. Officers tested the substance which tested positive for methamphetamine (1.8 grams). Officers also located a glass pipe bong with burnt white residue in the center console along with another glass pipe with burnt white residue in the bag belonging to the passenger. The driver was arrested and released on a PR bond.

9-27  Police were summoned to a discount tool store in the 300 block of Howe Avenue where the shift manager of the store reported that two unknown suspects entered the store, selected approximately five sets of ICON brand wrenches and left the store without paying or permission to do so. The estimated cost of the 5 sets is $650. The manager is unsure of prosecution at this time. There are two suspects.

9-26  A 37-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman reported to police that an unknown male poured sugar into her vehicle’s gas tank. Video surveillance footage provided by the apartment complex shows an unknown male forcibly opening the gas tank cover and pouring a bag of sugar into the tank of the victim’s vehicle. In the footage, a white Jeep is observed parked next to the victim’s vehicle. The unknown male is seen entering the front passenger seat of the Jeep, after which an unidentified driver departs the scene. The victim stated she wishes to pursue prosecution in this matter. There are active leads currently being investigated.

9-27  During a traffic stop on State Road and Portage Trail officers found the front seat passenger in possession of an open container of beer and an open container of wine. The passenger was issued a citation and released on scene. Officers found the rear seat passenger in possession of two glass crack pipes with burnt residue. During the investigation the rear seat passenger provided officers with false identifying information in an attempt to prolong the investigation and prevent the discovery of his warrants. The rear seat passenger was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and obstruction of official business. He was booked, released on bond, and transferred to the custody of Solon PD for warrants.
