This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available May 8 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
5-2 An employee at Cuyahoga Falls Library reports that an unknown female came in on April 27, 2024 and stole a Game of Thrones DVD set ($50) and a red home improvement book ($34.95). The employee and officers viewed a video of the theft which shows the unknown female taking the discs out of their case, going over to the chairs and sitting down then put the items in her book bag and walk out. The library wishes to prosecute. There are no more leads or suspects at this time.
5-3 A 13th Street resident reported that an unknown suspect stole his orange Husqvarna self-propelled lawn mower from the backyard of his residence. The theft occurred during the evening of May 2. The resident valued his lawn mower at $60.There are no leads, and the resident is willing to prosecute.
5-3 The manager of a 4th Street convenience store reported to police that around 7:02 pm an unknown female stole 2 bottles of Fireball ($19.99 each) and a 1-gallon bottle of Rikaloff vodka ($11.19) from the store. The female stuffed the items in her jeans, walked past all points of sale, and exited the store. The total amount stolen is $51.17. The manager is unsure of prosecution at this time.
5-3 Officers initiated a traffic stop due to an expired temporary tag in the 300 block of Howe Avenue. Officers spoke to the driver who advised he had a suspended driver’s license. The man gave consent to search his vehicle where a glass meth pipe with burnt residue was located on the floor near the driver’s seat. He was given a citation/summons and had a valid driver pick up his vehicle.
5-4 An employee of the post office on Second Street reported to police that a known male was asleep inside the post office despite previously having been banned from the premises. The post office would like to press charges. There are leads and a suspect.
5-4 A Cuyahoga Falls couple contacted police after attempting to purchase a German Shepherd puppy on Facebook Marketplace from an unknown suspect. The suspect continued to request various amounts of money via Cashapp from the couple, promising them the dog. They paid a total of $455.00 to the unknown suspect. They have not received the puppy and the suspect stopped replying to them. The victims wish to press charges. There are leads.
5-4 A discount store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue reported their Asset Protection employee stopped a man for passing the last point of sale without paying for two pairs of shorts with a cost of $32.00. It was reported that the man also fraudulently returned a bottle of vegetable oil that he took from the shelf, costing $10.29. The store recovered the clothing but did not recover the currency from the return. The man ran from the store when police were called. Asset protection management signed a warrant on complaint for theft with a $10.29 restitution request.
