This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available May 28 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
5-15 An automobile dealer in the 4100 block of State Road reported to police an unknown used fraudulent information to secure a loan for a 2023 Jeep Cherokee. The unknown male has not made any payments on the vehicle. The vehicle cost $44,343. The manager stated they would prosecute. The vehicle has been entered into LEADS. There are leads and no suspect.
5-17 A department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that at 2102 hours a male took two pre-paid cellphones from the display and concealed them in his pants. The male was approached by police as he walked past the last point of sale. The cellphones were recovered at their full value of $199.98. Store management signed a charge for M-1 theft against the suspect.
5-17 A car dealership on the 1200 block of Main Street reports that an upper windowpane to the dealership’s east side was shot at with a pellet. The window was completely shattered and a small silver pellet ball was located. The value of the window was estimated at $5,000 by management and prosecution is desired. Employees and customers heard the pellet hit the window, which occurred just before the call to police, but saw nothing else. There are no further leads and it is unknown if the pellet was discharged from a pellet gun, slingshot, or something else.
5-21 Officers initiated a traffic stop on Route 8 near Howe Avenue for a traffic violation. They later identified the passenger who had multiple outstanding felony warrants through SCSO. Officers also located 2.3g of methamphetamine and 0.8g of psilocybin mushrooms on the passenger. The passenger was transported to CFPD where she was booked, processed and transported to Summit County Jail where she remains. All items were tagged for BCI testing.
5-21 An employee at a home improvement store in the 300 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that while working an unknown person stole his Samsung Galaxy A23 phone off his person. He said the phone was attached to his belt with an exterior case. The estimated value of loss is $1,000. The victim does wish to prosecute. No leads or suspects at this time.
5-22 During a traffic stop at State Road and Portage Trail on a white Chevy for an equipment violation, a probable cause search led officers to find the passenger to be in possession of 0.7 grams of Methamphetamine, as well as a glass pipe used for consuming the substance. The passenger was charged with possession of drugs as well as drug paraphernalia and released on a personal recognizance bond. The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for illumination of rear license plate.
5-22 Officers were dispatched to reports of a vehicle impeding traffic on the State Route 8 North off ramp to Broad Boulevard. Officers identified the driver and observed multiple indicators of impairment. The driver was placed through SFST’s and subsequently arrested, concluding the test. The driver was processed at the Cuyahoga Falls Jail and his BAC was determined to be 0.175 g/210L after providing a breath sample. The driver was released on a PR bond.
5-23 A convenience store in the 300 block of Tallmadge Road reported to police that an unknown male stole five scratch off lottery tickets by reaching over the counter while employees were in the back room, leaving the store without paying. The total of items stolen is $260. Prosecution was declined.
5-24 A 43-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman reported that known suspects identified themselves as police officers over a phone call and had her send them $1,500 on ApplePay. The woman was advised that her son was arrested by Summit County Sheriff’s Office last night and is still being held. The suspects called from two known phone numbers and impersonated being sergeants. The suspects advised that the woman’s son would get out of jail with an ankle monitor if she paid them the money. The victim does wish to prosecute and there are leads.
5-26 Police conducted a traffic stop on State Rd near Portage Trail after observing a vehicle drive at an unreasonable low speed and several marked lanes violations. The suspect was operating the vehicle with a temporary driver’s permit, and an odor of an alcoholic beverage was coming from the vehicle. Police had the driver perform field sobriety tests which he performed poorly. The suspect was placed under arrest for OVI. A 2255 form was read on scene, and the suspect was transported to CFPD for booking. The suspect refused to provide a breath sample and was charged with 333.01A1A, 335.03, and 331.08. The suspect was transported to Detox.
5-27 Police responded to a social club in the 1500 block of Main Street for a report that a known intoxicated woman had a verbal argument with the barmaid and refused to leave. The woman left the bar after officers requested her to leave. No one was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
5-27 Officers were dispatched to a convenience store in the 1700 block of Fourth Street for a welfare check of a female passed out in a tan sedan. Officers contacted the female, who was out of her car, and appeared to be speaking with another unidentified person who stated he was giving her directions. The female advised she was trying to find an address on Hollywood Avenue in Cuyahoga Falls to assist the owner of the vehicle she was driving. A CFPD K9 officer arrived on scene and ran his dog around the vehicle after seeing the suspect’s eyes were slightly dilated and seeing related history on her CCH. The dog did hit on the vehicle. A search was then conducted and a glass meth pipe with residue was found in the suspect’s purse, a digital scale was found in the center console, another digital scale found in a duffle bag in the back seat, and a hypodermic needle with brown residue was located in a bag in the trunk. A crushed, crystallized substance was found underneath the suspect’s feet in the back of the marked police vehicle she sat in. This substance was field tested and had positive results for Methamphetamine. The suspect is charged with Possession of controlled substances, Tampering with evidence, Possessing drug abuse instruments, and Possessing drug paraphernalia.
