This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available May 21 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
5-15 A Stow woman reported to police a traffic altercation where the passenger in a white Nissan got out of the vehicle and approached the victim’s Toyota after the incident. The passenger then yelled at the victim and approached her in an aggressive manner, wanting the victim to exit her vehicle to fight. The victim stated that she was in fear for her safety when the suspect was approaching her vehicle. The suspect was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, issued a citation and released.
5-15 Police responded to the intersection of State Road and East Bath Road for reports that a man was blocking traffic with his bicycle and by sitting down in the middle of the intersection. Police received multiple calls about the individual blocking traffic and slamming his hands on a 2021 Toyota Tacoma that was in the roadway. No damage was done to the Tacoma. The suspect was transported by CFFD to Akron General North for chest pains. The suspect was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct and released.
5-15 Loss prevention at a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue told officers they caught a female stealing who is a suspect in multiple other thefts at the same location. Officers read Miranda rights to the suspect in which she confessed to the other thefts. Video footage shows the woman skip-scanning a pink Auden bodysuit worth $25 and leaving without paying. The suspect was given a summons and court date for all offenses over the past two months.
5-15 During a traffic stop at Portage Trail and Front Street police observed the passenger in a vehicle had a cup containing alcohol in his lap. There was also a 375 mL bottle of Fireball whiskey in the driver’s side door that the passenger claimed as his. The passenger was cited for open container and released.
5-16 Police responded to a donut shop in the 1700 block of State Road where the manager reported an unknown male was asked to leave when employees told the male he could not vape inside the store. The male began screaming at employees and threw a full coffee at the exterior window when leaving the business. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle or identify the male. Advised the manager to contact CFPD if the male returns.
5-16 An employee of a construction company doing work on State Route 8 reports that an unknown suspect stole two wheels with tires from a speed limit sign they subleased. The sign was located SR8S near Second Street and near mile marker 7. The sign is ultimately owned by a third party in Stow and had been placed there approximately three weeks prior to the report date. Police spoke with the owner of the sign, who reported the total value of the theft is $500 and prosecution is declined.
5-16 Police attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a vehicle for speed. The vehicle did not comply with police lights and sirens, indicating for the vehicle to pull over and stop. The vehicle eventually stopped near the area of Route 8 North and Seasons Road. The driver was arrested for failure to comply fleeing and eluding, open container of alcohol, as well as the speed. The driver was booked and taken to Stow Municipal Court, issued a PR bond and released with a court date. The passenger of the vehicle was found to be in possession of a .22 Smith & Wesson rifle located in the trunk of the vehicle that was registered to the passenger. Ammunition was also located under the passengers’ seat, and he was also found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol also under his seat. The passenger was arrested for weapons under disability and improper handling of a firearm as well as the open container. The passenger was booked and then transported to Stow Municipal Court where he was given 10% of a $10,000 bond. His bond was paid, and he was released.
5-18 During a traffic stop on Route 8 near the Graham Road exit police discovered the suspect did knowingly transport a loaded Smith & Wesson SD40VE handgun in a motor vehicle in such a manner that the firearm was accessible to the operator/passenger without leaving the vehicle. The suspect had the handgun in a backpack in his lap/front passenger footwell and was not a qualified adult to possess the firearm as he is only 18 years of age. The suspect was taken into custody, booked at CFPD, and released on a PR bond. Police also discovered the suspect did knowingly possess 37.8g marijuana, a schedule 1 drug of abuse. The suspect was below the lawful age to possess marijuana as he is only 18 years of age. The suspect was issued a minor misdemeanor citation and released. Police also state the passenger of the vehicle did knowingly possess an open container of alcohol (Jose Cuervo tequila) in a motor vehicle. The passenger was issued a minor misdemeanor citation and released.
5-17 During a traffic stop at Howe Avenue and Main Street police identified the driver and the front seat passenger who provided multiple sets of personally identifiable information belonging to her sister in an attempt to conceal her true identity. It was later found that the passenger had multiple active warrants for her arrest. The passenger was also observed attempting to swallow a plastic bag containing suspected fentanyl. She was given multiple verbal commands to spit out the item, but she proceeded to ingest it. The plastic bag was later recovered and found to contain white powder residue. In the passenger’s possession was a folded lottery ticket with suspected white powder, along with multiple items of drug paraphernalia, including objects with both white powder and burnt residue. A K9 gave a positive alert on the vehicle. During the search, the driver was found to possess seven unused hypodermic syringes, a tan/black container with tan and white residue, 1 metoprolol and 6 Tadalafil pills both with no prescription. The driver has two weeks to provide prescription information or charges will be filed. The driver was issued a summons and released at the scene. The passenger was transported to Western Reserve Hospital, where she was medically cleared, booked, and later transported to the Summit County Jail. Further charges are pending based on results from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI).
5-18 Police responded to the 300 block of Taylor Avenue where an unidentified male was captured on video throwing himself into the front door of the address, causing the glass to shatter. The male then fled the scene. The resident does want to prosecute. There are leads.
5-18 Officers observed a black GMC Envoy at State Road and Highbridge Road traveling southbound. There was no visible license plate on the vehicle. Officers initiated a traffic stop at Main Street and Bannock Street just into Akron. The driver would not identify himself to officers during the stop and requested a supervisor. A supervisor responded to the scene to assist. The driver stepped out of his vehicle and spoke with officers on the sidewalk. The driver would still not identify himself and officers attempted to place him into custody. The driver began to fight and resist arrest and was eventually taken to the ground and placed in custody. During the fight the suspect broke an officer’s body cam. The driver was identified, arrested, and transported to county.
5-18 Police responded to the 2200 block of Wichert Drive for a tip of a parking violation. A vehicle was found parked on the sidewalk. A parking citation was issued for 351.03a.
