This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available March 5 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

2-23  A suspect who had an active warrant out of Summit County Sheriff’s Office for F-3 Weapons Under Disability was spotted going into a residence in the 500 block of Magnolia Avenue with a female suspect. The female suspect lied to officers multiple times to prevent the apprehension of wanted suspect and advised he was not inside. Both the male and female were both taken into custody without incident.

2-26  Police responded to a home improvement store in the 300 block of Howe Avenue for a detained shoplifter who left past the point of sales with $185.01 worth of miscellaneous  tools and tape. Loss prevention stopped the suspect at the doors and recovered all the stolen merchandise. The suspect was already arrested on theft from this location on November 26, 2024 and was given a criminal trespass warning. Store management signed charges on theft and criminal trespass.

2-27  A known male was stopped for crossing a road without using an accessible crosswalk. The known male was contacted and told officers he needed to go to the ATM and get cigarettes. The known male allowed officers to search his person and nothing of evidentiary value was located. The known male was given a ride to Cathedral Lane, where he allegedly stays with a friend for now. The male was warned for his violation and released.

2-27  Police responded to a report of shoplifting at a home improvement store in the 100 block of Graham Road where the manager reported an unknown male and female walked into the store on February 1, placed a Boost 2000-amp jumpstarter in the female’s purse and walked out of the store. The total loss to the store is $199.95. The store will prosecute.

3-1  Police responded to a convenience store in the 2000 block of Bailey Road for the report of two intoxicated females. The caller stated that they appeared extremely intoxicated and that they got into a white Toyota that was parked in front of the building. Police observed one suspect walk from the location stumbling down Bailey Road unable to keep balance. When police made contact with the suspect, she appeared highly intoxicated with the odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from her person. She was arrested for disorderly conduct intox and transported to DETOX. While at DETOX she became combative and was taken to Akron City Hospital and transferred into their care, cleared without further incident.

3-1  A 37-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was stopped on Route 8 near Howe Avenue. During the course of the traffic stop the suspect was observed to possess two open containers of alcohol (12 oz Monaco Tequila). The alcohol was located in the driver and passenger front door panels in the suspects’ vehicle. The alcohol was disposed of, and the suspect was arrested for possession of open containers in a public place.

3-1  During a traffic stop at Howe Avenue and East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue police identified the driver and during the officers initial approach saw an open container of Bud Light beer sitting next to the driver’s seat. The driver was also discovered to have an outstanding warrant and was issued a citation for his driving offenses and liquor law violation. The suspect was transported to a meet-up location with Ohio State Highway Patrol and transferred into their custody on the warrant. The vehicle was towed to B&B towing.

3-1  A 29-year-old Elyria man contacted police after he met with a known juvenile at a convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street to sell him a computer graphics card valued at $680. The juvenile paid using PayPal, then disputed the payment with PayPal, causing the payment to be voided while the juvenile still retained the graphics card. Contact was attempted with the juvenile and his parents but failed. It’s unknown whether the victim will be compensated by PayPal for the transaction. The victim does not wish to prosecute.

3-1  The manager of a convenience store in the 2800 block of State Road reported to police that an older male stole a single carton of eggs by placing it in a camo jacket he was wearing and walking out of the store without paying. The total loss to the store is $7.99 and they declined prosecution. The suspect is unknown.

3-2  A 45-year-old Virginia man was taken into custody after officers responded to the area of Second Street/Portage Trail for reports of a driver asleep at the wheel. Upon arrival officers located a Chevrolet Silverado in the area. The driver was identified and officers noticed multiple indicators of impairment. The suspect refused to perform field sobriety tests and he was subsequently arrested. The suspect did provide officers with a breath sample which determined his BAC to be .120. The suspect was then transported to the Summit County Jail. The vehicle was towed to B&B Towing.

3-3  Police stopped a 55-year-old Akron man for driving on a suspended license. The man was found to be in possession of two small pipes, one containing a white powder consistent with narcotics. The man was charged with driving on a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released from the scene.

3-3  A 36-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman reported to police that in attempts to purchase a vehicle that she saw on a Facebook post, she sent a $500 deposit through Zelle to an unknown male. Additional transactions were charged to her Zelle account, resulting in a total loss of $1,500. The woman later found out that the post was a scam. There are no local leads on suspects. She did not wish to prosecute and only wanted her money back.
