This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available March 26 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
3-18 Police made a traffic stop on Route 8 South near Howe Avenue and after a conversation, the driver was found to be under suspension with an active arrest warrant. The warrant agency declined to take her into custody. Upon being asked to exit the vehicle, officers observed a black container in the driver’s seat. The driver was asked about the contents, and she opened the container. Inside was 5 grams of a crystal-like substance. A further search of the vehicle uncovered another black container with 0.8 grams of a crystal-like substance, along with a digital scale and spoon with residue. The driver was cited for traffic violations and released. The seized items were submitted to BCI for testing and the vehicle was towed.
3-20 A convenience store in the 2800 block of State Road reported to police that an unknown male grabbed a pack of vodka from the shelf and passed the final point of sale without paying for it. The price for the vodka is $2.99. The manager did not wish to prosecute but would like to trespass him. There is a lead and a possible suspect.
3-20 A drugstore in the 600 block of Portage Trail reported to police that he observed a gentleman leave the store with multiple cough and cold medic packs without paying. The suspect was located a couple blocks away with the medicine in his pocket. The manager signed a theft complaint on behalf of the store. The total amount stolen and recovered was $26.96. The suspect was summoned for theft, given a court date.
3-22 An employee at a tax preparation firm in the 1900 block of Portage Trail contacted police and advised them that an impaired customer who had arrived recently was getting ready to leave in their vehicle. Officers contacted the suspect as she was getting into her vehicle. The suspect admitted to drinking alcohol and driving to the business. The suspect last operated the vehicle moments earlier when she pulled into the parking lot. The suspect’s vehicle had fresh damage that appeared to be from an unknown accident. Field sobriety tests were completed, and the suspect was arrested and booked for OVI. A urine test was completed.
3-24 A resident in the 1300 block of Bailey Road reported to police that an unknown suspect got into his car and stole a handgun from the center console. The victim also reported that a spare 10-round mag and the waist holster were also taken. The victim reported he always locks his car, but there was no forced entry or damage to the vehicle. There is a camera outside his apartment that points right at his car. The victim was given a copy of the report number to give to maintenance to see if a copy of the video could be emailed to police. The victim wishes to prosecute.
3-24 During a traffic stop on Second Street at Northland Avenue police noticed marijuana in plain view near the center console of the vehicle. Both occupants are under the age of 21 and a probable cause search was conducted. A bag containing 24.4g of marijuana was located inside the center console of the vehicle. The driver admitted to the marijuana being his. He was then released on scene with a summons.
3-24 While conducting an extra patrol in Water Works Park police located a suspicious white truck near the kayak launch area. The vehicle was occupied, and police found the driver asleep inside. The driver has been previously warned not to be in the parks after dark and was issued a citation for being in the parks after dark again. They were cleared without further incident.
