This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available March 12th and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
3-3 Police initiated a traffic stop on a Ford Ranger for a traffic violation. Officers spoke to the driver who had signs of impairment from inhaling harmful intoxicants. The driver was put through field sobriety tests and ultimately arrested. Officers located two cans of “Galaxy Gas” from inside the suspect’s vehicle. The suspect complied with providing breath, blood and urine samples and was charged with OVI and abusing harmful intoxicants.
3-3 A convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street reported to police that an unknown male stole multiple miscellaneous candy bars on March 2. The manager estimated the loss to be approximately $593. He did wish to prosecute. The suspect is a repeat offender, being described as a male, approximately 40-50 years in age, wearing a red hoodie and black pants.
3-4 While investigating a traffic stop the driver was found to have two unopened sandwiches from a local convenience store inside his jacket. When asked about the sandwiches the driver admitted that he had just recently stolen the sandwiches from a convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street. Officers spoke with the manager of the convenience store who stated that they would like to prosecute in the matter, and they would like the suspect trespassed. The suspect was issued with a summons for theft as well as advised with trespass from the premises.
3-4 Police apprehended a driver involved in a pursuit with police. The suspect fled at a high rate of speed after officers signaled for him to stop. The driver crashed/disabled his vehicle near Newberry Street and Taylor Avenue, causing property damage and a risk to others. The driver was removed from the vehicle, and after performing field sobriety tests, the driver was found to be impaired. An inventory of the vehicle revealed open Budweiser containers. The suspect refused to take a breath test at Stow PD. He was subsequently booked, charged, and taken to a detox center.
3-4 A 28-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man became intoxicated before walking his dog near Elizabeth Court. During the walk he fell, causing a small abrasion to his left leg and was unable to stand up without assistance. When police arrived, he was issued a citation for disorderly conduct and released to his mother. The man declined EMS for his abrasion; officers were able to treat it with basic first aid on scene.
3-6 A Graham Road home improvement store reported to police that a woman entered the store and concealed a battery charger and a battery jump starter into a black bag and left without paying. The total value was $199.90. The woman’s identity was later confirmed and charges were signed by store management.
3-7 Officers made a traffic stop on West Portage Trail and Northampton Road. The known registered owner/driver admitted to there being an open container of alcohol in the vehicle accessible to her and the front seat passenger. The driver was found to be in possession of 3.2 grams of methamphetamine, 0.7 grams of admitted cocaine, a digital scale with narcotics residue, and a glass plate with white powder on it. The driver admitted to transporting the cocaine to deliver to a known male. The driver was charged with trafficking in drugs, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and two counts of drug paraphernalia.
3-10 Police responded to the intersection of Broad Boulevard and Fourth Street after multiple citizens were concerned about the well-being of a man who stumbled into the roadway and fell over. The suspect was found to be highly intoxicated from alcohol consumption. Police issued a Disorderly Conduct While Intoxicated citation for causing alarm to others. The man was then transported to Detox in Akron and released under their care.
