This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available February 4 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
1-24 A Graham Road resident contacted police after an unknown solicitor for a wireless company drove their vehicle through her yard and broke a holiday projector. The cost of damages is approximately $30. There are leads, however, prosecution was declined.
1-24 A Munroe Falls Avenue resident reported that his rear license plate was stolen from his motor vehicle. The victim is unsure of when or where the license plate was stolen. There are no leads or suspects. The victim wishes to prosecute. The license plate was entered into LEADS as stolen.
1-29 A clerk at an Oakwood Drive card shop reports that two unknown males bought $2,001.57 worth of sport and Pokemon cards using false identification and a Mastercard with a false name on it. The two unknown males then reported to their bank that transactions were fraudulent in order to get their money back. The card shop does wish to prosecute for theft from deception.
1-29 Police Special Operations initiated a traffic stop at 6th Street and Silverlake Avenue on a 2013 Ford Edge. Over the course of the investigation officers located a broken glass pipe, seen with burn marks, in the center console of the vehicle. This was found after a probable cause search was conducted due to an alert from a K9. The passenger was determined to be in possession and released from the scene with a summons.
1-29 During a traffic stop at State Road and Broad Boulevard police state a known male did knowingly possess a controlled substance in Schedule 1 or 2, to wit: the known male did possess an off-white crystalline substance in the rear floorboards of his vehicle as the driver and only occupant of the vehicle. The substance was collected and sent to BCI for confirmatory testing. The male was released on scene.
1-29 A grocery store in the 2600 block of State Road called police where they arrested a known male for shoplifting from the store. During arrest, officers discovered in his possession one pack of chicken breast and two steaks from the store totaling $59.27. The manager advised that these items were stolen from their store that morning. The manager declined prosecution for the stolen items and reported that she just wanted the items returned. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the store.
1-30 A Maplewood Road resident reports that a package containing jeans valued at $50 was delivered to the wrong address on Maplewood Street. When the package was later recovered, it had been opened and the jeans were missing. The victim stated she would like to prosecute if a suspect is identified. There are currently leads in the case. The victim was given victims assistance information.
1-30 The manager at a drug store in the 600 block of Portage Trail reports a 56-year-old Akron woman went past the point of sale with un-purchased merchandise concealed in a cart. The total loss for the business is $155.11. The suspect is charged with theft.
1-30 Cuyahoga Falls police reports that two known male subjects were intoxicated and yelling inside a lounge in the 1800 block of Front Street. The two known male subjects admitted to yelling inside of the lounge and pushing each other when they were outside the establishment. Both of the known male subjects were warned for disorderly conduct.
1-30 Police responded to a nail salon in the 2200 block of Portage Trail where the receptionist and bartender for the establishment reported a female who had become increasingly intoxicated while awaiting a nail appointment at the salon’s bar. A salon spokeperson stated the woman began screaming at employees and customers, using vulgar language, and provoking employees to fight her. The woman was cited for disorderly conduct while intoxicated and transported to Akron City Hospital after being refused at Detox.
1-31 A 22-year-old Akron man reported his friend called him sounding drunk and stating that he ran over a utility pole that is under his car. The vehicle was located with the rear end sticking out into the street with the utility pole laying across the entire street. The three occupants were all intoxicated. A 28-year-old Dover man was found to be the driver and was arrested for OVI. The pole was found to be from the off-ramp of Route 8 North at East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue in Akron. During investigation a passenger obstructed police by failure to follow commands and physically resisted by pulling away, becoming tense, etc. while police were attempting to put him in handcuffs. In CFPD jail the passenger was found to have a handgun concealed in his boot. The passenger was charged with Obstructing Official Business, Resisting Arrest, Carrying Concealed Weapons, Illegal Conveyance of Weapons, Using Weapons while Intoxicated, and DOC Intox. The driver was read a 2255 and refused a breath test with a prior conviction of OVI. The driver was also cited for DUS. The driver signed a PR bond and was released to his sober father. The passenger was transported to Summit County and held.
2-2 Officers and Cuyahoga Falls paramedics responded to the intersection of Howe Ave and Brittain Road for a female slumped at the wheel of a red Ford. The driver stated she had been up late the night prior drinking and had fallen asleep while waiting at the intersection. The driver declined medical treatment. Officers did not observe any sign of impairment, however, did observe (2) small open bottles of “pink lemonade” alcoholic beverage in the driver’s door. The driver was cited for open container and released with a citation.
2-3 During a traffic stop, a 59-year-old Akron man was arrested for his active warrant. During a search, a sticky note containing approximately .09 grams of meth, was located in his right sock. The man was arrested and transported to the police department where he was booked and charged with possessing a controlled substance. He was transported to Summit County for his warrant. The meth was seized and tagged into evidence.
