This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available February 25 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
2-14 A 47-year-old Center Avenue man reported to police that between January 6 and January 13, while he was serving time away from home, an unknown suspect forced entry into his residence through the front door. The victim reports the unknown suspect stole many items, totaling a loss of over $30,000. The victim would like to prosecute and there is a possible lead.
2-18 Police made a traffic stop on Route 8 South near Howe Avenue on a 2009 Ford due to an equipment violation. Officers made contact with the driver who was under 21 years old. Officers detected an odor of marijuana, and the driver states she smoked earlier in the day. Officers located a pouch of six extra-strength THC gummies in the glove compartment. The driver was given a summons for underage possession and released.
2-19 Police were summoned to the 1700 block of State Road where the manager reports a known male took $13.85 worth of merchandise and walked past the point of sale, exiting the store without paying. Officers attempted to make contact with the male; however, they were unsuccessful. The manager wishes to prosecute on the matter. Patrol will follow up.
2-19 A 66-year-old Loomis Avenue woman reported to police that an unknown subject stole a personal check and then altered and cashed it. The check was mailed at the post office on 2nd Street, written to Capital One in the amount of $3500.. It is unclear whether the check was stolen in Cuyahoga Falls or while in transit. The victim has canceled her bank account and was reimbursed the $3500 by her credit union. She wishes to pursue criminal charges.
2-20 A convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street reports that an unknown female was sleeping in the dining area for 2-3 hours and had been asked to leave by their security team but failed to do so. On scene the female was identified and arrested for outstanding warrants from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. During a search of her person, a burnt glass drug pipe was located in her coat pocket. The suspect was warned for criminal trespass and trespassed from the store, charged by summons for possession of drug paraphernalia, and transported into the custody of Summit County for warrants.
2-21 After being pulled over leaving a convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street a driver was found to have a bottle of Fireball ($7.59) in his possession. The store manager provided video of the suspect concealing the Fireball and passing all points of sale without paying. The stolen item was returned to the store. The suspect was issued a summons, advised he was trespassed from the store, and released.
2-22 A 22-year-old High Street woman was arrested for OVI after she was stopped for operating a vehicle without taillight at night. The woman was also in possession of a handgun while intoxicated that she failed to disclose when asked by police. The suspect was taken to the station for booking where she was acting extremely belligerent and refused to submit to a breath test or give fingerprints. The suspect was taken to Summit County Jail and transferred into their custody to await court. Cleared without further incident.
2-23 A home improvement store in the 100 block of Graham Road reported to police an unknown male entered the store and concealed an Aosu brand security camera valued at $239.99 in a draw-string bag then left the store without paying. The suspect left in a black-colored sedan of an unknown make. The store will prosecute.
