This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available February 18 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

2-7  While attempting to initiate a traffic stop on a 52-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman, officers observed the driver commit several traffic violations. Officers attempted a traffic stop; however, the vehicle continued at a high rate of speed for several blocks until coming to a stop. The driver was found to be impaired after the officer’s investigation. The driver was arrested for OVI and transported to CFPD. BAC results showed the driver at 182%. She was released to her son with a PR Bond.

2-7  A 52-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man reported to police that an unknown suspect opened a Verizon phone account using his name and information. The total charge to the account was $126.43. The victim stated that he did not want to prosecute at this time. 

2-8  Police responded to the 2400 block of Beech Street after a report of a male target practicing with a compound bow in the back yard of the apartment complex. The male was advised of the city ordinance and was educated on indoor and outdoor shooting ranges in the area.

2-10  A 30-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man reported to police that a known suspect used his Huntington debit card information to rent a vehicle from Supremacy Ink and Piercing studio in Cleveland for $840. The victim doesn’t know how the suspect got his card information. Huntington has since frozen and replaced his card but hasn’t refunded the money. The victim will sign charges. The victim also reports that on the same day an unknown suspect used his card in Raleigh, North Carolina for $250. The victim will sign charges.

2-11  A resident in the 3300 block of Prange Drive reported to police that someone entered her unlocked 2013 Dodge without her permission and took her purse, wallet and the contents. The total loss was estimated at $150. There is a lead but no suspects. Prosecution is desired.

2-12  An 18-year-old Akron man was stopped on a traffic stop and officers noted that while being under the age of 21 years, the driver was found to be in possession of 1.4 grams of marijuana that he was actively smoking in a motor vehicle.

2-13  A 37-year-old Winesburg man contacted police after using his credit card at a known restaurant. Shortly after paying for his purchase, he received a notification indicating that his credit card had been used to sign up for a subscription service in the amount of $29.99. The victim stated that he did not authorize this transaction and believes his credit card information was stolen during his visit to the restaurant. The victim declined prosecution.

2-13  Police happened upon a 62-year-old Texas man in the 2200 block of Front Street who, while in a parked and running motor vehicle, was found to be impaired and later found to have a .097 BAC.

2-15  Officers noticed a 64-year-old Stow man asleep behind the wheel of his vehicle in a parking deck. The suspect reported that he had approximately 4-5 scotch drinks. Officers conducted field sobriety tests, and he was placed under arrest. Officers asked the suspect  about having a firearm, in which the suspect reported he did not. Officers located a loaded firearm inside the center arm rest of the suspect’s vehicle.  The suspect was released into the custody of detox.

2-15  Police conducted a traffic stop at Portage Trail and Third Street for a vehicle having only one working brake light. During  the officer’s initial interaction with the suspect, he was uncooperative and unresponsive to questions and commands. Officers noticed the suspect was concealing an object in his mouth which appeared to be a folded piece of paper. The suspect was instructed to exit his vehicle and spit out the object in his mouth, for which he refused. Officers removed the object from the suspect’s mouth which later field tested positive for cocaine. CFFD responded to check the suspect and advised that he was ok. Officers also noticed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the suspect’s person as well as bloodshot and glassy eyes. The suspect refused to perform field sobriety tests and a breathalyzer at the station. The suspect’s vehicle was towed and he was arrested, transported to CFPD for booking and transferred to the Summit County Jail.

2-16  A big box store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that an unknown subject stole a Samsung Galaxy cellular phone valued at $49.99. The subject placed the phone inside their jacket and walked out of the store without paying. The store wishes to pursue criminal charges, and the report number was provided.

2-16  A bargain store in the 500 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that two unknown suspects entered the store and put flooring items valued around $80 inside a cart and exited the store without paying. The manager does want to prosecute and trespass the suspects.

2-16  The manager of a convenience store in the 400 block of Main Street reports an unknown suspect concealed numerous store items, valued $38.92, in her purse and coat pockets. The suspect then left the store without paying for the items. The manager does want to prosecute and trespass the suspect.
