This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available December 11 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.

11-30  The manager of a grocery store in the 2600 block Bailey Road reported a shoplifting attempt to police after loss prevention notified officers that the same suspects were involved in a theft at another store in their chain earlier in the day. Officers spoke to the manager who reviewed video footage and confirmed multiple alcoholic beverages and diapers were stolen for a total value of $180.53. The store signed the charges and warrants were issued.

12-03  A State Road resident reported to police that her sister fraudulently used her personal information to obtain a local furniture store credit card and charged $567. The victim has also received numerous credit inquiries from different credit card companies since the event. She was alerted by a fraud alert on her personal information via a reporting agency. She wishes to pursue criminal charges and the report number was provided. On December 5, the victim called to report that she discovered her sister had also used her identity to obtain a loan at a payday lender in Akron earlier on November 11. The lender informed the victim that they have cameras and police advised to ask the lender to preserve any recording from that date. She has not reported the offense to the police agency with jurisdiction over that location and has been advised she should do so. 

12-04  Police responded to a loud music complaint in the 700 block of Tallmadge Road. Upon arrival CFPD reports that the homeowner has a loudspeaker in front of his residence playing instrumental holiday music that can be heard clearly beyond 80 feet from the property line of the residence after 9:00pm. Officers contacted the homeowner and advised him of Cuyahoga Falls City Ordinance 509.03a6A1 Disorderly Conduct – Unreasonable Noise/Loud Music, a Minor Misdemeanor. The homeowner turned off the loudspeaker and stated the violation will not happen again. Police issued a verbal warning for the violation.

12-05 The manager of a bank in the 1800 block of State Road reported to police that an unknown suspect attempted to cash a fraudulent check using identifying information of a customer. The manager reports the suspect possessed a Michigan state ID card with victims’ information. The bank reports they confiscated the fraudulent check written for $3,000. and would like to prosecute for attempted passing of bad checks. The account holder would like to prosecute for identity fraud.

12-05  A 26th Street resident contacted police with reports of an unknown female, approximately 20-30 years old with brown hair, who stole three packages from her front porch.The total value of items stolen is estimated at $100. The female was seen driving a grey Kia sedan, entered the victim’s driveway, stole the packages, and left the scene. Prosecution is desired.

12-05  Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Howe Avenue for a report of a theft. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the manager who stated an unknown female successfully returned items that she did not purchase for $37.87. After returning the items the same female then loaded a shopping cart full of miscellaneous items worth $214.93 and walked past the final point of sale before being confronted by store management. The items were recovered and the suspect left prior to the officer’s arrival. The store does wish to prosecute.

12-07  Police were summoned to the intersection of State Road and Broad Boulevard for a report of an intoxicated male that repeatedly walked into the roadway. An individual nearby also advised that the male had approached his car and tried opening the door. Contact was made with the suspect who was identified and found to be intoxicated. He was cited for disorderly conduct and transported to detox.

12-07  A Tallmadge man was stopped for several traffic violations near the intersection of Second Street and Portage Trail. While speaking with the driver officers could smell alcohol coming from his person. The driver admitted to consuming alcohol and voluntarily performed sobriety tests, after which he was arrested after testing. The driver provided a breath sample of .140 BAC and was released to a sober party on his own recognizance.

12-09  During a traffic stop on Route 8 at Howe Avenue a driver who was stopped for several traffic violations was found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol and a glass pipe used to smoke crack cocaine. The suspect admitted to possession of the pipe and open container. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (M4), open container in a motor vehicle, driving while suspended, and signals while changing course.
