This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available August 6 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
7-26 The manager of a drugstore in the 2600 block of State Road reported that a female had left with four cans of Miller Light valued at $1.50 each without paying. The woman had placed four cans in the cart and walked around the outskirts of the aisle, leaving the point of sale without paying. Police spoke with the woman, who admitted that she was there and did get the four cans. The woman stated she was on pain medication and thought that she had paid for the drinks. The manager did wish to prosecute, and the woman was charged with theft. She was also trespassed from the business.
7-31 During a traffic stop on Route 8 North near Front Street police state that the driver did knowingly have in his possession 4.1 total grams of suspected cocaine (3.3 and 0.8 grams in separate packaging). Officers located bags of suspected cocaine during a probable cause search of the vehicle. Officers located one bag inside the center console of the vehicle that was stuffed into the cigarette lighter port and another bag inside a black book located in the rear pocket of the passenger side seat. The driver did claim the substance and admitted to officers it was crack cocaine. Police also state that the driver did knowingly have in his possession equipment and paraphernalia used to consume narcotics. Officers located multiple items used to consume or store illegal narcotics during a probable cause search of the vehicle. The driver was booked at Cuyahoga Falls Police Department and released on a PR bond. Cuyahoga Falls Police state that the passenger did knowingly have in his possession 14.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Officers located the bag of suspected methamphetamine in the trunk of the vehicle during a probable cause search. Both the driver and passenger later informed officers the methamphetamine belonged to the passenger, who also affirmed he had in his possession a blue glass pipe used to smoke methamphetamine, was booked at Cuyahoga Falls Police station and transported to Summit County Jail for housing.
7-31 An Oneida Street woman reported to police that she found an expended bullet lying on the floor of her spare bedroom. Upon further investigation the woman noticed a hole in the front of her dresser drawer. The hole continued through the back of the dresser, through the drywall, and through the exterior siding. It is believed the bullet was fired from the exterior, into the east side of the residence. There are no leads, and the woman does wish to prosecute.
8-1 Police responded to a noise complaint at a tavern in the 500 block of Chestnut Boulevard. When they arrived, a band was playing in the back parking lot. Police spoke with the bartender regarding the noise and were advised that the bar would shut down the set for the evening. They were warned and advised of the city noise ordinance. Cleared without further incident.
8-1 Police were called to the 2200 block of Winter Parkway where a 37-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man reported his vehicle was tampered with after receiving a subpoena as a victim in another case in which the known suspect is the defendant. The victim’s mechanic stated a sludgy liquid was found within the fuel of the vehicle and was most likely sugar. The estimated cost of repair is $2148.72, since the fuel injector, pump, and filters will need to be replaced. Officers attempted to speak to the known suspect, who stated his attorney will handle matters. No further statements could be gathered at this time.
8-1 A fast food establishment in the 400 block of Howe Avenue had a customer report that an employee of the restaurant reached into his vehicle and took his hat. Officers contacted the employee in question and the manager on duty. The manager advised the caller was in the drive-thru line and received his food and was not happy with the service. She advised that the customer refused to leave the window after multiple times of asking. He continued to film and advised he would not leave until he knew the employee’s name. The employee was standing outside and began to argue with the customer at his window. The customer drove out of the line and the employee reached in and grabbed his hat while he was leaving. Both parties were cited for Disorderly Conduct. The customer was advised he is trespassed from the property.
8-2 A bar owner in the 2200 block of Front Street reported to police that an unknown suspect impersonated a US Marshal and defrauded the company of $2,530. The employee used company cash to send the unknown suspect the money via Paypal and Chime. The bar wishes to prosecute and there are leads.
8-2 Police were called to Water Works Park after police received reports of a male exposing his rear end with kids and other pool patrons nearby. An employee, who also witnessed the suspect exposing his rear end, contacted law enforcement due to patrons making a complaint. The suspect admitted to exposing his rear end so he could dry off, knowing there are facilities to do so. The suspect was cited for disorderly conduct by creating an offensive condition.
8-2 Police took a theft report in the 2500 block of State Road from a 32-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman who stated an unknown person or persons entered her unlocked KIA and took her pink Michael Kors purse containing her Ohio ID, EBT card, and a bottle of medication without permission. There are no leads or suspects at this time. The victim does wish to prosecute. The estimated amount lost is $345.00.
8-3 While at the intersection of Front Street and Broad Boulevard police attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a small Mini motorcycle with no plate. When police initiated their overhead lights and sirens, the rider passed two vehicles and accelerated at a high rate of speed in a willful attempt to flee. Police did not pursue at this time; however, the area was searched. Currently, there are no leads on a suspect.
8-3 During a traffic stop on Route 8 South near Howe Avenue officers identified the driver and the passenger. Open containers of liquor were seen in the center console of the vehicle, along with the passenger side floorboard. A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted and a bottle of Teremana tequila was located underneath the passenger seat. The passenger stated that it was hers. She was released on scene with a citation for the violation.
8-3 During a traffic stop for multiple infractions after police observed indicators of criminal activity, a K-9 from Tallmadge PD was deployed and alerted to the vehicle. While having the passenger exit from the rear driver’s side, he admitted he was in possession of a loaded handgun in his waist and a meth pipe in his pocket. The handgun, Glock 43x, was confirmed stolen through LEADS and recovered. The driver owned a pink handbag which was located in the vehicle. In the handbag, officers located a Zolpidem pill, and Buprenorphine pill, both controlled drugs that the driver possessed with no prescription. The passenger is a convicted felon of F-5 possession of drugs which prohibits him from possessing or concealing a firearm. After Miranda, The passenger stated he purchased the firearm from a male whose name he didn’t know. The driver was charged for two counts of possession of controlled substances, cited for her traffic violations, and released from CFPD on a PR bond. The passenger was charged for having weapons while under disability, carrying concealed weapons, improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, RSP-handgun, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The passenger was booked into the Summit County Jail with no bond.
8-4 Officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Tifft Street in response to a report of an intoxicated individual who had fallen. Upon arrival, Cuyahoga Falls Fire personnel were already on scene. They informed officers that the subject stated he had consumed five beers and two shots and had been operating a motor vehicle. The suspect was transported to Akron City Hospital by paramedics. While speaking with officers the suspect admitted to being under the influence of alcohol and confirmed he had been driving. The suspect’s vehicle was seen on Flock at Bailey Road/Orlen Avenue at approximately 1143 hours. The suspect was issued a citation for Operating a Vehicle while Intoxicated (OVI) at Akron City Hospital.
