This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available August 19 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
8-13 A Cuyahoga Falls man reported two of his credit cards were used at multiple different locations around Cuyahoga Falls. He stated both cards were cancelled and there was nothing lost. There are no leads and no suspects but he does wish to prosecute if a person is identified.
8-14 A department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue reported that a 33-year-old Akron woman attempted to shoplift, walking past all points of sale without paying with items concealed under a bookbag, valued at $121.61. All items were recovered. The suspect did recklessly cause inconvenience, alarm or annoyance to others by engaging in turbulent behavior, to wit; The suspect was screaming and swearing at others while inside a store.
8-14 A Cuyahoga Falls woman reported to police that she was at the Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium at approximately 8:00am and had left her cell phone laying out near the workout room where someone stole it. The victim advised that she did wish to prosecute.
8-14 The manager of a grocery store in the 2600 block of Bailey Road that an unknown female suspect came into the business and bought approximately $15 worth of merchandise. The female suspect then paid for these items using a $100 bill. The suspect asked the clerk to make change for another $100 bill. It was later found that both of these $100 bills were counterfeit. The manager advised that the store is willing to prosecute.
8-14 Police took a report in the 2200 block of Northampton Road where a worker for AT&T stated an unknown suspect climbed the utility pole and cut both sides of the copper wire line, while two other unknown suspects stood at each end cutting the wire and leaving. The approximate loss is $10,000. AT&T is willing to prosecute. There are no leads.
8-14 A home improvement store in the 100 block of Graham Road reported to police three unknown suspects concealed Pokemon cards, valued at $251.58, in their pockets and left the store without paying. The store is willing to prosecute.
8-14 A department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue reported that three females had walked past all points of sale without paying. Suspect 1 walked past all points of sale with a shopping cart filled with merchandise valued at $312.24, without paying. Suspect 2 did the same with merchandise valued at $329.51, Suspect 3 with $382.43 merchandise. All merchandise was recovered and returned to the store.
8-16 A 27-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man reported to police that he was at Lions Park on August 14th at approximately 8:30pm. The man advised that he set his wallet on a bench near the swings and when he went to retrieve his wallet he found it missing. There are no suspects at this time, and the man did not wish to prosecute.
8-16 A 43-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Munroe Falls Avenue. On scene the man stated to officers that he had been drinking. The suspect had the odor of alcohol, red glossy eyes, and slurred speech. Officers did field sobriety tests on the suspect, after which the man was placed under arrest for OVI. The suspect was transported back to the Cuyahoga Falls Jail for booking. The suspect did refuse to give a breath sample and was released from the station to his mother on a signature bond.
8-16 A 69-year-old Painesville man reported to police that he was on a walk in the area of 230 Howe Avenue when an unknown male suspect approached him. The victim reports that the male punched him in the face approximately seven times. The victim then advised that the male fled on his bicycle into Akron. The victim stated that he did not need medical attention. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate any persons matching the suspect’s description. The victim did state that he does wish to prosecute. There are no leads and/or suspects at this time.
8-16 An employee at a Graham Road fast food restaurant reported a known male unconscious inside a running vehicle who had been there for hours. The suspect’s probation officer also reported him pinging at the location and breaking curfew. The suspect displayed signs of an overdose and was transported by EMS to Akron City Hospital. A card with a white powder residue and a snort straw with residue were seized. Due to the car being in an operable manner on arrival and suspected impairment of the driver, patrol will follow-up on OVI charges.
8-16 A fast food restaurant in the 300 block of Howe Avenue contacted police to report a male was causing annoyance, alarm, and inconvenience by screaming and yelling, disrupting the drive-thru line, and attempting to climb through the drive-thru window. The suspect was upset about the wait times and was voluntarily intoxicated as well. The suspect was cited for disorderly conduct and trespassed from the restaurant.
