This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available April 9 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
3-29 Police responded to a fast-food restaurant in the 300 block of Howe Avenue for an unruly customer. Upon arrival police reported the woman yelling at employees of the establishment. Police made contact with the employees who explained the issues came up due to the order being made incorrectly. They spoke with the female who reported she is allergic to an ingredient that she requested not be in the food, but it was. Police warned the female for disorderly conduct. Police also advised the female of being trespassed from the business.
3-31 Police were called to a convenience store in the 2800 block of State Road where the manager reported that a male left in a tan Kia after attempting to steal four 24-packs of beer. The male successfully stole two 24-packs of Corona and one 24-pack of Bud Light. A second 24-pack of Bud Light fell out of his vehicle, destroying the contents. The total value of the items came to $95.96. The male was identified on the security cameras. The store manager came to the station and signed charges for theft.
4-1 Police responded to a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue for a female who concealed $272.38 worth of miscellaneous dog food and jewelry into a bin and left the store without paying. The suspect got into a gray SUV and left the scene prior to police arrival. The store will prosecute.
4-1 Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Main Street for a report of theft. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the manager, who stated an unknown male with a black backpack entered the store, concealed a bottle of 7/11 brand hand sanitizer in his pocket worth $5.49, and walked out without paying. The manager states the male is known to frequent the area of Howe Avenue on foot. The store does wish to prosecute and trespass the individual.
4-1 Police were called to a worksite at 20th street and Grant Avenue where a worker reported that an unknown suspect stole two sheets of metal from the jobsite . The worker stated the metal was sitting on the devil strip of the residence. It is valued at $630. There are no leads. The contractor wishes to pursue criminal charges, and the report number was provided.
4-1 Police responded to the 800 block of Arcadia Avenue for a report of a stolen prescription. The man last saw it when he picked it up from the pharmacy and put it in the front passenger side of his car. He went to a laundromat on Home Avenue in Akron, but he thought he saw it in the car. He looked for his medication on Friday and was unable to find it. The car was unlocked overnight. There are no cameras. The victim will prosecute. Case is closed due to no leads or suspects.
4-1 Officers observed a red Honda traveling South on Oakwood Drive. This vehicle was observed driving in between the north and south lanes. The vehicle veered right onto 6th street, and rolled through a stop sign, eventually stopping in the middle of the 6th Street and Silver Lake Avenue intersection. The vehicle then drove onto the curb of 6th Street twice. Officers stopped the vehicle and identified the driver as the registered owner who had glossy eyes and slurred speech. The driver agreed to take field sobriety tests, which resulted in him being placed under arrest for OVI. While taking the tests, the odor of an alcoholic beverage was apparent. The driver refused the breathalyzer test. The driver has been charged with OVI, OVI- refusal, marked lanes, and driving on curbs.
4-3 Police made a traffic stop on Newberry Street and Broadway East. During an inventory of the vehicle for a tow report two blue pills were found on the driver’s seat where the driver was sitting. The pills were searched on Drugs.com and found to be amphetamine, a controlled substance. The driver did not have a prescription for the amphetamine and was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
4-4 Police responded to a loud music complaint on Frederick Drive near Issaquah Drive. Upon arrival, the caller pointed out the vehicle where the driver was slumped at the wheel. Officers checked his welfare and detected a strong odor of alcohol. The driver exhibited bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. When asked for identification, he refused and also declined to perform field sobriety tests. After being informed he was under arrest the driver resisted but was eventually taken into custody following a brief struggle. He was transported to Stow PD, where he refused a breath test. The driver was later released to a sober party after receiving his charges.
