This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available April 2 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
3-25 Police responded to a department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue for a male who attempted to leave without paying for Sharpie pens and JLab headphones. The items were recovered by loss prevention at the store’s exit. The items cost $39.98. Witnesses stated the male left in a red Ford. Loss prevention stated the store will prosecute. There are leads and no suspects.
3-25 Police responded to a call in the 1200 block of Hunters Lake Drive for the report of gunshots. A woman reported that her neighbor was discharging a firearm outside in the back of his apartment. Officers located a Smith & Wesson M&P 9, two spent casings and two marks in the ground. The firearm, magazine and casings were seized by officers. The suspect, who was visibly intoxicated, was identified as the person discharging his firearm and arrested for weapons while intoxicated and discharge of firearm on or near prohibited premises. The suspect was transported back to the station and went through booking. He was released on a PR bond.
3-27 Police responded to a call at a body shop in the 4100 block of State Road where the manager reported an unknown suspect broke the rear driver’s side window of a white Jeep Wrangler which was parked in their parking lot. The suspect entered the Jeep and stole it off the lot. This occurred between 2:15am and 2:28am. The Jeep cost $101,890. No leads or suspects at this time. The vehicle will be entered into LEADS as stolen.
3-28 A Cuyahoga Falls woman reported to police that her bank credit card and $30 in cash were stolen from her purse while she was at work. She was alerted to a $54.19 purchase at a convenience store at 7:32 PM that she did not make. The only people with access to her items were employees, and the manager provided the names of workers who left around the time of the purchase. The victim has locked her card and plans to pursue charges if the suspect is identified. There is no camera footage of the theft, and the convenience store in Cuyahoga Falls has no record or footage of any purchase made at 7:32pm.
3-28 Officers responded to an internal burglar alarm at a car dealer in the 3700 block of State Road. On arrival a large crack was seen in the front door, and employees could be seen working in the rear service center. An employee stated the front door should not be cracked, and dispatch confirmed police have not taken a report of any recent damaging or attempted break-ins at this location. The employee advised he will need to speak with his manager, when that person arrives later on this day, to confirm whether they will or will not prosecute.
3-27 A boutique in the 1200 block of Main Street reported to police at 6:16pm, two unknown suspects concealed merchandise and walked past all points of sale with the unpaid merchandise. Suspect #1 stole $238.96 worth of merchandise and suspect #2 stole $79.98. Total amount stolen was $318.94. The manager does want to press charges.
3-29 A department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that a female had deprived the business of merchandise and walked past the last point of sale towards a fast food restaurant on Howe Avenue. Police observed the video with loss prevention and witnessed the theft. Officers located the suspect at a restaurant and identified her. The suspect physically struggled with police in an attempt to delay the investigation and avoid arrest. Officers arrested her and all $167.94 of merchandise was located and recovered. The store signed a theft charge against the suspect. The suspect was also charged with obstructing official business. Video is pending on theft.
3-31 During a traffic stop on Route 8 near Howe Avenue police identified the driver to be a known suspect (20 years old). The suspect advised he had a glass bowl with burnt marijuana located in the center console. Police seized the bowl, warned him for the offense, and he was released.
3-31 Police responded to a call in the 1000 block of Graham Road for an apparent overdose. Witnesses state a male was laying back in a car not breathing. The witnesses also report the male had white lips and blood on his hand. Officers and CFFD arrived to find the male unresponsive and made forced entry into the vehicle by breaking the driver’s rear window. This action caused the male to wake up and eventually unlock his door. In plain view, several used needles could be seen inside the vehicle. A further inspection revealed multiple paper folds containing white powder, a bag of green colored pills with an unknown white powder coating the pills, multiple loose pills found in misc. wallets, and a burnt spoon. The male, who is an identified suspect, was mirandized and questioned after being transported to a local hospital by CFFD and treated by hospital staff. The male states he cannot remember what most of the suspected drugs are, though he did advise the green pills are most likely Gabapentin. The male is not qualified for immunity. Charges are pending for BCI results.
3-31 During a pedestrian traffic stop on Pierce Avenue police discovered the suspect was found to be in possession of a green glass meth pipe after he discarded it from his left pants pocket. The pipe was seized, the suspect was issued a summons and released.
4-1 Police responded to a suspicious person at a convenience store in the 200 block of State Road. While police were speaking to the 40-year-old Coolville resident they observed several segments of burnt foil and a lighter in his sweatshirt pocket. Once detained the male gave false identifying information causing a significant delay in the investigation, by claiming to be another individual. His true identity was later discovered, and he was found to have several outstanding arrest warrants. Inside his vehicle police observed a small scale, more burnt foil pieces and a small segment of a straw. The suspect was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Obstructing Official Business.
