This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available April 16 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
4-4 During a traffic stop on Route 8 near Howe Avenue police identified the driver and passengers and asked all occupants out of the vehicle where they gave consent to search their persons, nothing located. One passenger later admitted there was an open container in the vehicle. A search revealed the open container of liquor, which was disposed of. All occupants were warned for the violation and released. None of the occupants showed signs of impairment.
4-4 A restaurant owner in the 2000 block of Front Street contacted police regarding reports of a damaged security light. The owner stated that two unidentified juveniles had been climbing the fire escape on the business’s property. As they were climbing down they damaged the security light. Officers searched the area for the juveniles but were unable to locate them. The light is valued at approximately $50. The owner does not wish to prosecute at this time.
4-5 The manager of an office supply store in the 600 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that two unknown associated males shoplifted 3 Epson ink cartridges and 6 HP ink cartridges totaling $1552.83. The males placed the items in shopping baskets and walked out of the store without paying. The store is willing to prosecute.
4-6 The manager of a convenience store in the 1200 block of Main Street reported to police that a theft occurred on April 5 between 11pm and 1am. The unknown suspect took multiple items without paying during that time. Total approximate loss reported of $150. There are leads and a suspect. The store will prosecute.
4-6 Police were called to a membership store in the 1100 block of Buchholzer Boulevard for an altercation. Customer A reports Customer B attempted to run her over in a vehicle, which did cause injury. Customer A states Customer B attempted to cut them in line for a gas pump at the store. Customer A got out of the vehicle and began yelling at Customer B, who allegedly flipped them off. Both customers began yelling profanities at each other. Customer A then stepped in front of Customer B’s vehicle, so her sister could park next to the gas pump. Customer B then rolled forward and appeared to have tapped customer A’s vehicle. Neither vehicle sustained damage. Customer B then backed up and left. Customer A reported her left knee was injured and requested a squad. She then refused treatment. A short time later, she requested a squad again and asked if it would be better for the report if she went to the hospital with CFFD. She declined further treatment. Both customers were charged with Disorderly Conduct.
4-6 A discount store in the 500 block of Howe Avenue contacted police and a man was placed under arrest for theft after walking past the point of sale without paying for his items. The suspect was located by officers with the stolen items valued at $330. A search of his persons revealed more stolen items, a paper fold with a gray powder substance, and a short straw with residue. The suspect was also found to have a warrant through Summit County and was later transported into their custody. The suspect was also advised of trespass from the discount store.
4-7 The manager of an electronics store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue reported to police that an unknown female entered the store and took a Logitech Pro keyboard valued at $160 without paying. The female left in a vehicle in an unknown direction. The store will prosecute for Theft.
4-9 A Windham Ridge resident contacted police after reports of a barrage of fraudulent attempts to open credit cards, bank accounts, and lines of credit in her name since January of 2025. While most attempts were thwarted by her financial institutions, the unknown suspect was able to transfer $1,250 (between her checking and savings accounts) to an unknown Huntington account. The woman was given identity fraud victims instruction and advised to notify any and all financial institutions with whom she may be involved. The woman will prosecute.
4-10 Police were flagged down by an Uber driver near the intersection of Howe Avenue and Main Street. The driver reported to police his female passenger was yelling and screaming at him, to which he wanted her out of his car. The female exited the car and was given a courtesy ride to a convenience store to await another ride. The Uber driver declined to pursue charges for Disorderly Conduct. Officers cleared without further incident.
4-10 During a traffic stop on Howe Avenue and East Cuyahoga Falls Avenue officers noticed a glass pipe with burn marks and meth residue, in plain view, sitting on the passenger side seat. When the pipe was removed, officers located methamphetamine in the pipe. The suspect was subsequently arrested and transported to the Cuyahoga Falls jail. Upon clearing booking, the suspect was released on a PR bond. His vehicle was impounded .
4-10 Out of concern for her uncle, an Akron woman asked police to look into suspicious activity with his PayPal account. The Cuyahoga Falls man met police at his bank and advised he received an email from PayPal stating his account was hacked. He called a phone number attached to the e-mail and spoke with a person who advised they would have someone from the Federal Trade Commission contact him. This person requested the man pay them $24,700, which he withdrew from his bank, in cash, and delivered to an unknown suspect in the City of Cuyahoga Falls. Prior to officers contacting the victim, he was attempting to withdraw $10,000 more for the suspect. The victim did not withdraw the $10,000. At this time the victim is out $24,700. He will prosecute.
4-11 Police were called to an auto parts store in the 1700 block of State Road after an employee reported a known suspect returned and got a refund for a battery ($209.99) and a core charge ($22.00). The suspect got into an argument with employees and at the end, the suspect stole the battery and core charge, and left the scene. At this time the store does not want to prosecute.
4-11 A 74-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man contacted police after an unknown subject called him 50+ times in the past 24 hours and sent him threatening text messages. The man reports he was attempting to find a companion on Backpage and starting receiving countless calls ; the victim is unsure of the credibility of the threats but wishes to prosecute for telecommunications harassment. There are no leads.
4-12 A department store in the 400 block of Howe Avenue contacted police after loss prevention apprehended a suspect who had stolen clothing, beauty, party and gardening supplies, valued at $470.97, by scanning the barcode of gardening seed packets instead of the correct barcodes for merchandise at the self-checkout. The woman was trespassed from the store and released with a summons.
4-13 Police responded to a drugstore in the 1700 block of State Road after the manager reported two unknown males attempted to steal 36 various allergy medications totaling $1,001.93 by placing them into a reusable grocery store bag. As one of the suspects loaded the bag, the other attempted to distract the manager who confronted the males and retrieved the items before they could leave the store. The store does wish to prosecute.
4-14 A car dealer in the 3400 block of State Road reported to police that someone took a white 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee off the lot. The vehicle is un-plated, described as an SRT8 model with SRT8 badging. The dealer reports unique items on the vehicle as a black bug shield across the hood, large red brake calipers, and “saddle” colored upholstery. Estimated loss is $27,888. The dealership would like to prosecute. No leads or suspects. The dealer is working on possible video.
4-15 A grocery store in the 600 block of Graham Road reported to police a known suspect placed cheaper price tags from other merchandise on more expensive merchandise. An employee stopped the suspect at the register and when confronted the suspect left the business. No merchandise was stolen, all items attempted to be stolen were seized by the store. The suspect was spoken to and trespassed from the business per request from management of the store.
