We at the Falls Free Press believe civil discourse to be paramount to holding the fabric of our community together. That’s why we have created the Community Voices section of this publication. We will strive to include as many voices as we can in this space in each issue in order to show the diversity of opinions on topics we face as Falls residents, Ohioans, Americans, and human beings.
The following letter was submitted to the Falls Free Press on October 15th, 2021. It has been published in its entirety. I was born and raised in Cuyahoga Falls and am proud to have served with many wonderful and committed leaders from both political parties during my tenure on City Council. Our city requires and our residents deserve quality representation. Regarding Warren Capps seeking a leadership position in our city as a Ward 8 council candidate, I am deeply troubled and must speak out.
I am equally concerned with the silence regarding the following facts by those other candidates supporting Capps.
If you are not aware, Warren Capps was a former C.F. police officer that had his chance to be a leader and failed himself, the badge and us. At the time, Police Chief John Conley recommended to Mayor Don Robart to fire Capps for numerous infractions that occurred while he was a police officer. Among them were physically abusing his girlfriend by throwing her down stairs, stalking her while on duty, accepting money from senior citizens, and filing numerous false reports including a faked injury. In addition to losing his job, Mr. Capps signed a legal agreement stating he could never work for the city again. This information and unfortunately more is available from the City Law Department by making a public records request.
