During the Public and Industrial Improvements meeting committee members and residents in attendance had questions that could not be answered during the meeting by engineering staff over A-59.
A-59: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the South Front streetscape.
Mackenzie Kasar from the city’s engineering department provided the following answers:
- How many public parking spaces are currently on South Front Street (not including Weller Court/Fire Station 1 parking lot) and how many will there be after the project is complete? Currently there are 143 spaces with no ADA accessible marked. In the future there will be 157 with four ADA accessible spots in l the new parking lot.
- What kind of trees will be planted? Canopy trees (landscaping around parking lot areas): Red Maple, Scarlet Oak ; Street trees (smaller planters around parking lots and along streets): Celebration Maple, Honey locust, Lilac Tree, Lacebark Elm.
- How many EV charging stations will there be and what are the product details for those units? We have two charging stations accounted for at the public parking lot, which will serve up to four vehicles at a time. The model is the CT4000 from ChargePoint, which has integral software that can be utilized to track usage and consumption.
The Falls Free Press would like to thank the engineering and community development departments for this update.
