Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.
The following legislation was presented to council Monday night and assigned to the appropriate committee:
A-88: An ordinance authorizing the Parks and Recreation Board to enter into a contract or contracts for the purchase of a Reelmaster 5010-H Hybrid Fairway Mower for use at Brookledge Golf Club. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion October 21.
A-89: An ordinance authorizing the director of finance to enter into a contract or contracts with Wichert Insurance Services, Inc. for the professional services necessary to manage the city’s risk management and insurance program and for the purchase of public entity insurance coverages. Assigned to the finance committee and discussed in a special finance committee meeting Monday night. The legislation renews the contract between Wichert and the city. Finance Director Bryan Hoffman said the increase is minimal and Wichert has a solid background in public sector insurance. They also allow the city to use their own law department when settling claims for a tremendous savings to the city. This contract will be 7.75% over the last contract primarily due to the increase in property values and an increased number of vehicles. The committee voted to bring this out for a vote before all of council and it passed 11-0.
*A-90: An ordinance setting the compensation of the mayor, members of council, Council President, and Clerk of Council commencing January 1, 2026, and January 1, 2028. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion that night.
*A-91: An ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, Patrol and Community Service Officers bargaining unit, effective July 1, 2024. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion that night.
*A-92: An ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the Ohio Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, Sergeants and Lieutenants bargaining unit, effective July 1, 2024. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion that night.
*A-93: An ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the Utility Workers Union of America, Local 399, effective July 1, 2024. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion that night.
*A-94: An ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the International Association of Firefighters, Local 494, effective July 1, 2024. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion that night.
*A-95: An ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), Local 2662, effective July 1, 2024. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion that night.
A-96: An ordinance creating the positions of Specialist, Digital Media Geographic Information System Technician and Safety and Training Compliance Manager; amending Exhibit “A” of Ordinance 41-2024; and establishing compensation levels for employees of non-bargaining of the City Cuyahoga Falls effective July 1, 2024. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion October 21.
A-97: An ordinance amending Ordinance 79-1987 and repealing Ordinance 122-1993 in connection with job classifications, positions, and compensation of various positions within the City of Cuyahoga Falls. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion next week.
A-98: An ordinance establishing policies and procedures within the municipal corporation of the City of Cuyahoga Falls. Assigned to the finance committee for discussion next Monday.

A-100: A resolution supporting Issue 40, the Summit County Children Services Levy at the general election on November 5, 2024. Assigned to the public affairs committee for discussion October 21.
A-101: A resolution expressing support for and urging passage of Issue 29, the Cuyahoga Falls City School District Levy, at the general election to be held on November 5, 2024. Assigned to the public affairs committee for discussion next Monday.

Finance & Appropriations:
A-81: An ordinance determining to proceed with the acquisition, installation, equipment, and improvement of certain public improvements in the City of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio in cooperation with the Akron Summit County Energy Special Improvement District. Passed 11-0.
A-82: An ordinance levying special assessments for the purpose of acquiring, installing, equipping, and improving certain public improvements in the City of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio in cooperation with the Akron Summit County Energy Special Improvement District; and approving an Energy Project Cooperative Agreement, a Special Assessment Agreement, and a Supplement to a Standing Payment Agreement connection with improvements and in such special assessments. Passed 11-0.
A-83: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, with Survalent Technology Corp. for the replacement of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition platform for the Electric Department. Passed 11-0.
Public & Industrial Improvements:
A-84: An ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into a Reimbursement Agreement with the City of Akron, Ohio for the connection of the relocated Gorge Sanitary Trunk Sewer to the Northside Interceptor Tunnel. Passed 11-0.
A-85: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, with O. R. Colan Associates, LLC, for professional engineering services for the improvements to Wyoga Lake Road, from E. Steels Corners Road to Seasons Road. Passed 11-0.
A-86: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts without competitive bidding with Kenmore Construction for the replacement of the city storm sewer for emergency repairs at 125 Graham Road and increasing appropriations. Passed 11-0.
A-87: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, to construct three (3) dumpster enclosures on Riverfront Parkway. Passed 11-0.
There was also a Committee of the Whole Monday night to accept the mayor’s appointment of Jeffery Sharpe to the Board of Zoning Appeals to fill the unexpired term of Ed Caruso who has moved out of the city and is therefore ineligible to serve. Sharpe told council that he wishes to give back to the city and is looking upon this opportunity to do so. Council voted 11-0 to approve the mayor’s appointment.
In the Reading of Petitions, Claims, and Communications portion of the meeting the clerk of council reported that correspondence was received from the Ohio Department of Liquor Control to inform council that an application for a D5J liquor License had been received from Owen Real-estate Services LLC doing business as “Not Napa Wine” at 1884 Front Street.
