City Council Minutes Report: June 24, 2024

Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.

Reports of City Officials

Temporary clerk Jerry James reported that council has received correspondence from the Ohio Department of Liquor Control pertaining to the transfer of a liquor license at 503 Chestnut Boulevard to CBG Falls LLC from what was formally known as The Chestnut Beer Garden.

The following legislation was read before council and assigned to the proper committee.

A-58: An ordinance authorizing the director of law to enter into the settlement of a legal claim. This legislation was assigned to the finance committee.

A-59: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the South Front Streetscape. This legislation was assigned to the public and industrial improvements committee.

A-60: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the improvements to State Road, Seasons Road and Wyoga Lake Road at The Triangle. This legislation was assigned to the public and industrial improvements committee.

Reports of Council’s Standing Committees

Community Development:

A-56: An ordinance approving the 2024-2028 Community Development Block Grant Consolidated Plan Document. Passed 10-0.

A-57: An ordinance authorizing the mayor to execute and submit the Annual Action Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for program year 2024. Passed 10-0.

Council also voted 10-0 to excuse the absence of Rachel Loza.

Council committees will meet Monday, July 1 starting with the finance committee at 6:30pm
