Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.
If you noticed a new face at city hall Monday, it was 5th grader Braydon Heiner, first place winner of the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge in Cuyahoga Falls; out of the prizes available Braydon chose to be Cuyahoga Falls Mayor for a day. After a full day at city hall Braydon and his family attended a city council meeting where he presided over the meeting. Led by Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge invites students in grades 3-8 to take ownership of their health by setting goals, tracking progress, and forming daily habits around fitness, nutrition, and sleep. Coach Tressel believes that optimism, encouragement, and a strong support system are just as important to healthy living as exercise or diet. That spirit of hope, hustle, and heart is at the core of the challenge, motivating kids to show up for themselves and cheer each other on. Congratulations Braydon.
