Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.
Legislation Scheduled for Discussion
Public & Industrial Improvements:
A-7: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the MudBrook Trail Phase 2. A substitute A-7 was read into record and Finance Director Bryan Hoffman explained the $600k increase will go to the TIFF that is helping fund this project. City Engineer Tony Demasi said bids were opened December 16 and Vizmeg was determined to be the lowest and best bidder at $3.3 million. Vizmeg was also the contractor on the first phase of this project; the city and the public were both pleased with the results. The city also received a $500 grant from The Ohio Department of Natural Resources as part of this project. This phase of the project will start at Bath Road and continue over Mud Brook and run behind Menards and have a 200-foot bridge crossing Old Mill Pond, ending at People Care Park Boulevard. Demasi said if the legislation passes work would begin mid-March and finish in 2027. The committee voted to bring this out for a vote before full council February 9.
Community Development:
A-8: Ordinance appropriating Community Development Block Grant carryover funds for calendar year 2026. Community Development Director Mary Spaugy presented this legislation to the committee, a yearly ordinance that allows the city to carry over unspent funds from the previous year. In this case the city is carrying over 460k. Spaugy also said Ms. Szalay would come before council in April for the presentation of what the city will receive in 2026. The committee voted to bring this out for a vote before full council next Monday
