City Council Minutes Report: February 13, 2023

City Council News & Politics

Cuyahoga Falls City Council holds regular meetings on the second and fourth Mondays of each month. Council committee meetings are held on the first and third Mondays in order to allow councilmembers to publicly discuss pending legislation that will be voted on at regular meetings. The public is free to comment on pending legislation during the allowed time set aside as part of committee meetings.

The following ordinances were read into the record and will be discussed publicly with public input in their assigned committees next Tuesday, February 21.

B-7: An ordinance authorizing the mayor, as director of public safety, to enter into a contract or contracts, without competitive bidding, with Flock Group, Inc. for the purchase of Flock Cameras for use by the city’s safety forces. To be discussed by the finance committee.

B-8: An ordinance authorizing the Parks and Recreation Board to enter into a contract or contracts, without competitive bidding, with Dan Guardo Contracting, Inc., for the Water Works Family Aquatic Center Pool Surface Refinish Project. To be discussed by the finance committee.

B-9: An ordinance authorizing the Parks and Recreation Board to enter into a contract, without competitive bidding, with Trackman, Inc. for the purchase of a golf simulator. To be discussed by the finance committee.

B-10: An ordinance approving the renewal application of Daniel Michael Lynch, trustee, as owner of certain real property located at 643/653 West Steels Corners Road, to place said property into an agricultural district pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Chapter 929, will be discussed by the public affairs committee. *

Finance & Appropriations:

B-1: An ordinance authorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement to provide dispatch and related safety services to the Village of Boston Heights. Passed 10-0.

B-2: An ordinance authorizing the director of finance to enter into a contract or contracts, without competitive bidding, with Storm7 Labs, LLC for the replacement of the city’s primary network switch. Passed 10-0.

B-3: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts with Smart Energy Water for service and support for the electrical division electronic work order system. Passed 10-0.

Public & Industrial Improvements:

B-4: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the improvement of Portage Trail Extension West, from State Road to Northampton Road. Passed 10-0.

B-5: An ordinance authorizing the director of public service to enter into a contract or contracts, according to law, for the construction of a new electrical division building and warehouse at 222 Cochran Road. Passed 10-0.

Public Affairs:

A-155: An ordinance amending the traffic control file by providing for installation of various traffic control devices. Passed 10-0.

B-6: An ordinance amending Exhibit “A” of Ordinance No. 132-2021 to incorporate the position and pay grade classification for the non-bargaining position of Electric General Foreperson. Passed 10-0.

Miscellaneous Business:

Council voted to excuse the absence of Councilman Brillhart.
