This is a sampling of Cuyahoga Falls police reports made available September 2 and is not meant to be a comprehensive list of all events occurring in the city. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty.
8-24 Police conducted a traffic stop on the 600 block of Graham Road. During the traffic stop the driver of the vehicle admitted there was an open container of beer in the vehicle. Officers located an open 24oz can of Monster The Beast 6% alcohol in the center console cup holder. The front seat passenger stated that the open beer belongs to her and that she was drinking it. The passenger was issued a minor misdemeanor citation for possessing an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and was released with a summons.
8-25 A Cuyahoga Falls woman reported that while she was stopped on Bailey Road at Hudson Drive, her vehicle was struck with an unknown object, possibly ball bearings, causing the rear window to shatter. After observing that her rear window had shattered, the woman drove away from the area because she feared for her safety. The estimated cost to replace the windshield is $400. The victim wished to prosecute. There are leads.
8-26 An employee of a convenience store in the 2900 block of Oakwood Drive reported that a known female came to the store on two separate dates and left without paying for items. On August 20 she swiped her card and left immediately without finishing the transaction; the card declined. On August 23, she gave the cashier $6 in cash for a $6.80 purchase. She told the cashier they could pay for the rest and left. The employee does not want to prosecute for the theft. She asked that the known female be trespassed from the store. Police contacted the female at her residence and advised her that she is trespassed from the store.
8-27 Police conducted a traffic stop in the 300 block of Howe Avenue stop on a Chevrolet Silverado after identifying both the driver and passenger; a probable-cause search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of one marijuana joint, one opened bag containing marijuana, one paper fold containing an unknown white powder, and three different items of drug paraphernalia. The driver was determined to be in possession of the marijuana. Both the driver and passenger were determined to be in possession of the drug paraphernalia and the unknown white powder. Charges are pending the results of BCI testing.
8-27 An 88-year-old woman reported an unknown person contacted her via a phone call and stated her grandson caused an accident and was in need of bond money. This person then gave the victim another phone number to call that was allegedly for an attorney. When the victim called this number, they had her withdraw $8,700 from her bank account and hand it to a courier at her front door. The victim later found out that her grandson did not cause an accident and was okay. The victim is currently out $8,700 and has been given information on fraud. She will prosecute.
8-28 A Meadow Lane resident reported to police that during the evening of August 27, into the morning, his 2019 Acura was stolen out of his driveway. The victim reports that the vehicle was left unlocked with his key left inside. Included in the contents of the vehicle were several credit cards belonging to the victim, fishing gear, and his son’s baseball gear. Shortly after the call for service, Bath PD recovered the vehicle with a known suspect in possession. The vehicle was returned to the victim. Bath PD interviewed the Suspect, and it was determined Bath PD will handle criminal charges, and this case is closed.
8-28 Police were summoned to the 2200 block of High Street where it was reported that an apartment had loud music coming from it. While walking down the hall police could hear the bass of the music from several apartments down. Police made contact with the resident and asked her to keep the music down. The female resident was warned for disorderly conduct.
8-28 Officers responded to a parking complaint on Victor Avenue regarding a vehicle that had been parked on the street for several days. Officers attempted to contact the registered owner and left a voicemail to have the vehicle moved within 24 hours or a citation would be issued. A warning card was left and the tire was outlined. A 24-hour follow-up was submitted.
8-29 A 25-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man reported to police that an unidentified Uber Eats delivery driver knowingly placed loose marijuana inside of his food which led to him consuming marijuana. This offense was committed in the vicinity of a school. There is a lead. The victim denied EMS. There is a lead. The victim stated that he does not wish to pursue criminal charges.
